England Explorer: 11-Day Travel Itinerary for the Adventurous

Day 1: Welcome to England

After landing in London, you can take a 90-minute train ride from central London to reach the beautiful Georgian city of Bath. After reaching the destination, you can take a short neighborhood orientation walk and get acquainted over a traditional Sunday roast dinner. In the evening, come back to your hotel to take some rest. Go to a sound sleep after having a delightful dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: Roman and Georgian Bath

The day of the tour ends well with a walk to nearby places, but the second day is the real day that actually calls for the real England tour. The day begins with a walking tour of Bath's charming streets, which include the medieval abbey square and the imposing sweep of its Royal Crescent. Once you have explored the area, the next, you will have a tour of 2,000-year-old Roman Baths, where you can satisfy your thirst with the natural mineral springs in the Pump Room. Half of your day will be consumed in exploring the beauty of baths and the rest of the day is free to explore the colorful Fashion Museum or you can have a spa in the Bath as Roman does.

Day 3: Glastonbury and Wells

The third of the England tour is reserved to explore and learn about the mystical Glastonbury. It is the legendary resting place of King Arthur, where you will enjoy a picnic in the shadow of the abbey ruins. Afterward, you can have a tour of England's oldest completely Gothic structure to discover the beauty of the architectural-styled building in the form of the graceful Canterbury Cathedral. In the evening, you can return back to the Bath and have some delicious food.

Day 4: Stone Circles and the Cotswolds

On the fourth day of the tour, you can take a walking tour through Avebury's mysterious, prehistoric stone circle, where you can find the hidden squares. After spending some hours in the exploration, you can simply drive straight to the north to Blenheim Palace. This non-royal, non-episcopal country house in England to hold the title of the palace was the birthplace of Winston Churchill. You can end our day with a charming visit to the flower-boxed Cotswolds market town of Stow-on-the-Wold.

Day 5: Cotswold Villages

On the fifth day, you will take a scenic Cotswolds drive, stopping to explore an ever-so-English village as well as tour Stanway House, home to the local aristocracy. In the afternoon, you will have free time to explore more picturesque market villages on your own or join your guide for a leisurely country walk past cottages and sheep, through fields and kissing gates. After spending a day discovering the beautiful places in England, you can enjoy your dinner at a country pub with the sounds of local folk musicians. This is how you can end your fifth day of the tour.

Day 6: Wonderful Wales

Stokesay Castle, a fortified manor house, is the starting point of the tour where you will learn about the feudal system and the perks of the well-born. After sipping the cream tea, you will be bidding cheerio to this beautiful England and drive into neighboring North Wales to the castle-topped harbor town of Conwy. Upon arrival, you will have enough time to wander around the town and walk the city walls overlooking the Irish Sea, before you take the last meal of the day.  

Day 7: Sheepdogs, Castles, and Highlands

On the seventh day of the tour, you will head to the Carneddau Mountains, where you will visit a working farm and get to know their talented sheepdogs. Then you will be off to Caernarfon to tour the impressive Caernarfon Castle, part of the system of English garrison castles. After having your lunch, you will drive up into majestic Snowdonia National Park for a walk through some of the most gorgeous scenery North Wales has to offer. The rest of your day is free to wander around Conwy's multi-towered city wall, historic houses, and laid-back harbor.

Day 8: Gardens and Lakes

The eighth day will start by exploring the manicured lawns, terraced beds, and an extensive botanical collection of Bodnant Gardens. Then you will come back to England and meander your way through the spectacular peaks and valleys of the Lake District. This is the place mostly by poets and painters. After an orientation of Keswick, you will end the day feasting on fish and chips together at a traditional English chippy.

Day 9: Hadrian's Wall

On the ninth day of the England tour, you will be traveling back in time with a walk along Hadrian's ancient Roman wall, which was once considered the boundary dividing civilization and barbarity. Afterward, your tour will be continued with a tour of the Roman auxiliary fort, Vindolanda. Here, you can have lunch before heading to the bustling cathedral city of York. Upon arrival, you will take a walking tour beneath the leaning, half-timbered houses of The Shambles in the city's marvelous medieval center. In the night, you can indulge yourself in England's favorite ethnic food.

Day 10: Tower of London and the River Thames

On the last day of the tour (officially), you can board a train and make a beeline past the Midlands for London. Upon arrival, you will jump into the city's medieval past, with a visit to the Tower of London, where you can join a tour with a witty Beefeater. Afterward, you will take an entertaining cruise on the River Thames, hearing tales about London Bridge, St. Paul's Cathedral, and Big Ben. In the later afternoon, you will check into your hotel and get oriented to our neighborhood and London's Tube. Book tickets for the theater before you say Cheerio to this beautiful country. Make sure to book something in advance online or pick up a ticket in London, so that you will be able to see the theater before you leave.

Day 11: Finish Your Tour

In the morning, breakfast will be provided to you, but no fun activities are planned for the last day of the tour. After having your breakfast, you can leave for Heathrow and Gatwick airports where you can reach easily by Tube, train, or taxi from the London neighborhood.
