DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Freedom of Movement

Traveling northbound from Edinburgh takes you past Stirling Castle, which was known to be the haven of Scotland. The ramparts stand on the side of a towering hill. Trees climb up the layered colors of the impressive cliff. The landscape is green and comparatively flat en route to Inverness. Lakes and rivers formed through the greenery. Arrive at Blair Castle and view the pristine white walls reflecting the bright sunlight. This 13th-century castle has been home to the Duke of Atholl for seven centuries. Comyn’s Tower is six-stories tall and provides a vivacious panorama of the 108 square mile grounds that belong to the castle.
The forest arises and falls on the nearby slopes that the River Garry has created. Your journey through the thirty rooms open to the public and find the lavishness of nobility looking at you, dating back to the 16th century.  The dining room is adorned with moldings carved into the walls and ceiling. The decor highlights a wine glass that holds up to nine points. The ballroom is a huge vaulted chamber and pays homage to the castle’s hunting grounds and rich landscape. Each room brings you deeper into the structured and elegant lives of nobility.

Day 2: The Depths of Scottish History

This morning we will visit the Culloden Battlefield. The soft mist disappears with the appearance of sunlight. Greenery spreads across the fields into the far trees. A small stone memorial was raised in the late 19th century to commemorate the battle and those martyred during the battle. The battle was fought in 1746 which was the last battle fought on British kingdom. The outstanding landscape encapsulates both English and Scottish history. The air is smooth and the breeze makes the only sound you hear. Every now and then you see rocks commemorating a regiment, with the clans carved deep into the stone face.
From the battlefield, you will start on an outstanding journey through history at Clava Cairns, a 4,000-year-old burial ground. The Bronze Age tombs were built in a circular formation and have been well preserved throughout the years. Each stone was taken based upon size and color before placing in a particular location. Small and white stones are to the north. Large and red stones are to the south. The slight coloration and separation of the mounds form distinct hues that wash across the unique structures placed near the tree line.

Day 3: The Ethereal Plane

Loch Ness is renowned for its legendary monster that lurks in the lake and disappears under prying eyes. More than the monster, the lake, and the surrounding landscape is amazing in its beauty. After breakfast, you start on a visit to the loch to experience the flourishing land and glistening waters. The lake practically reflects the sky in its vibrant, rippling hue. The hillsides rise out of the water and turn into the distance. Travel along the west of the rugged mountains, through Ratagan Pass and reach Eilean Donan. The castle has been featured in famous movies like the Highlander and James Bond’s Skyfall.

Day 4: A Treasured Loop

A loop road around Trotternish provides you with absolute access to the picturesque view of the Isle of Skye. The beauty of the region is not limited to the landscape but certainly, add to the breathtaking mystique. Old Man of Storr is a basalt peak that measures just over 164 feet high. The soft grassy slopes leading up to the steep eastern cliff. Jagged rocks poke out of the foothills in the shadow of the pinnacle. From a distance, the hole in the crown forms the image of an old man’s face looking into the sky. The mountains slope down into valleys and the wonders of the landscape remain at Fairy Glen. The hillsides have naturally narrowed.

Day 5: Keen Discretion

The big sky stretches across the city in the morning. Thousands of years of history whispers in your ears. You have traveled across the highlands and seen exceptional natural wonders and rich historic castles. And with this, your Scotland vacations tour comes to end.
