DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Paro

On reaching Paro airport, your private guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Thimphu. Thimphu is Bhutan’s capital. After check-in, relax for the entire day in the luxurious hotel after your long flight journey.  

Day 2:  Thimphu Exploration

Today, you’ll begin your journey by planning an entire day sightseeing trip of Thimphu valley. Some of the places that you will get to visit include National Library which is famous for its astonishing collection of Buddhist texts as well as manuscripts, Painting school which is known for its tango paintings, Folk Heritage Museum, The Textiles, and the Traditional Medicine institute. You can also make your way to the Memorial Chorten which is constructed in the memory of the third king of Bhutan and also the Handicraft Emporium. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 3: Heading to Trongsa

After the early morning breakfast, you’ll be driven towards Dochula Pass. On your way, you can also get to visit Gangkar puensum, the highest peak of Bhutan situated at a height of 7,497. Now, make your way towards Wangdue Phodrang. After spending some time at Wangdue Phodrang, proceed further towards Trongsa across Pelela pass. On the way, visit Chendebji Chorten which was constructed in the 18th century by a lama, Shida. After reaching Trongsa, Check in at the hotel. Have an overnight stay in the luxurious hotel.

The capital of Trongsa district, Trongsa is a town in central Bhutan. It’s a quaint but charming town and is situated at seven hours’ drive from the Capital. You can get to witness an amazing view of the Black Mountain Range towards the southwest. A majority of the town’s population consists of Bhutanese having Tibetan descent. Tibetans in the late 1950s and early 1960s immigrated to this part of the country. The beautiful Thruepang Palace, the birthplace of the third king is situated in Trongsa but is closed to the visitors. This tiny town holds amazing historical importance because all the Bhutan kings were endowed with the title of Trongsa Penlop before rising up the throne. The first as well as second kings ruled from Trongsa.

Day 4: Traversing to Bumthang

Often known as the ‘Switzerland of the East’, Bumthang is blessed with natural beauty and also some of the oldest Buddhist temples in the kingdom. The beautiful temples and monasteries here offer a rich spiritual experience to visitors. The snow capped mountains, wide open valleys, fast flowing mountain streams, green countryside and easy paced life gives it a Swiss like look as well as feel.  

Today morning, after breakfast, make your way towards Trongsa Dzong which was constructed by Shabdrung during 1647. Afterward, proceed further for Bumthang which is located at a distance of 3 hours. Proceeding further for 29 kilometers, you will reach Yutong La pass. On reaching Bumthang, check in at the hotel. After having lunch, make your way to Kurje Lhakhang, the place where the famous saint Padmasambhava managed to conquer a devil and then later left his body’s marks on a rock, Jakar Dzong, Swiss Farm, Tamshing Monastery and Jambey Lhakhang.

Day 5: Towards Punakha

After the morning breakfast, make your way to explore the enthralling valley of Bumthang. Later, head to Trongsa and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, begin your journey towards Punakha. On your way, visit Wangdue Phodrang Dzong situated besides local town. Upon arrival in Punakha, check in at the hotel. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 6: Exploring Punakha

Situated at a height of 4265 ft., Punakha valley is one of the country’s most scenic destinations and is the perfect place if you are a nature lover. Soak in the spectacular views of the Himalayas, listen to the peaceful sounds of the Po Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers that cut through the valley, or you can simply take in the serene beauty of this beautiful valley.

After breakfast this morning, visit a great complex constructed at the convergence of two rivers, Punakha Dzong. Have lunch and then make your way towards Paro. On your way, visit the traditional Farm House of Bhutan and witness the local Bhutanese lifestyle. Upon arrival in Paro, check in at the hotel and enjoy an overnight stay.

Day 7: One Day Tour of Paro

Today morning, after breakfast, head for an entire day sightseeing trip of Paro Valley. Here you can also witness Ta Dzong, which is the watch tower for the Paro Dzong. Afterward, proceed further for road trip to Drukgyel Dzong constructed in 1647. On your way, visit Kyichu Lhakhang which is the oldest as well as much sacred shrines in the country. Enjoy an overnight stay in the hotel of Paro.

The scenic Paro valley is considered one of the widest as well as greenest valleys in Bhutan. The international airport of the country is indeed located in Paro, which in itself is a sight. It is surrounded by the tranquil Paro River flowing down the valley and the fertile rice fields. It is also one of the best towns in Bhutan to explore on foot. This charming town is famous for its significant sites.

Day 8: Departure form Paro

After the breakfast this morning, you will be escorted to the airport by the private guide for your destination flight.
