The 8-Days trip of Antarctica with the highlights of flight adventure with starting from Punta Arenas in Chile. From here, you will be flying to King George Island where you will embark on the ship. You will be spending 3 days aboard the ship to check out places such as the South Shetland Islands. Again, you will disembark at King George Island to fly back to Punta Arenas for the proceedings of departure.
Day 1: Arrival at Punta Arenas, Chile and spending the day
The first day would mark your arrival in the city of Punta Arenas in Chile which is also the most populated cities in Southern Patagonia. It is here that you will be meeting your Antarctica tours agent who will help you settle down in your pre-booked hotel. The timing of your arrival in the city would define how you would be spending your entire day. If you arrive early, you can have the option of visiting the city which has some beautiful tourist location as well. The city of Punta Arenas is located on the Strait of Magellan, a passageway that connects the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean. Over the past decade, this city has been used as a base for the excursions to Antarctica. It is here that you will be taking the overhead flight to King George Island. Apart from that, the city has some beautiful location that you can visit during the day. You can start with the Plaza Muñoz Gamero which has a dedicated memorial to explore the Ferdinand Magellan while another museum by the name of Museo Nao Victoria contains the replica of one of his galleons. Enjoy the beautiful nightlife of the place before you board the flight the next day.
Day 2: Flight to King George Island, Embarkation to the Ferry
In the morning of the next day, your Antarctica tour agent will help you take the flight from the Punta Arenas International Airport towards King George Island. Through the course of the flight, you will be crossing the legendary Drake Passage in some hours of flight. From the flight, you can see some sights that you will remember throughout your life. In some hours flight, you will be landing at King George’s island which is the largest island in the South Shetland Island group. It lies around 120 km off the coast of the Antarctica Continent in the South Ocean. The Island was named on King George III. The best part of the tour would be when you descend from the flight as you walk around 1.6 km towards the shore from where you will be picked by Zodiac to be transferred to sail in the Ferry ton the Antarctic Peninsula.
Days 3 to Days 6: Visiting Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands
From days three to six, you will spend time on the ferry while taking Zodiac trips to the glaciers and other important places.
