Visiting Florence: The Wellspring of the Renaissance

Florence is the capital of the Italian region of Tuscany. It is the most populous city with 383,083 inhabitants, expanding to over 1,520,000 in the metropolitan area. Florence is being ranked in the top 15 fashion capitals of the world. It is one of the major tourist and industrial hub. It is the wellspring of the Renaissance. The city is well known for its culture, art, architecture and monuments and beautiful facades at every corner.

Piazza Michelangelo

Piazza Michelangelo offers a stunning lookout over Florence. It is on a hill on the South bank of the Arno River. It is one of the historic landmarks, attracts customer and captures their hearts and imagination to the very top. Palazzo Patti, the palace was long the residence of Florence’s ruler till 1919. It is situated on the quieter south bank of the Arno River. When it was handed over to the Italian state, it has been transformed into the museum complex. In spite of transformation Palazzo Patti, still, retain its air and atmosphere of a private collection. 16th Century Boboli Gardens were created by the Medici family. This beautiful Italianesque garden is located just behind the Palazzo Pitti containing a large number of statues and fountains. The garden has outdoor museum of garden sculpture, which includes Roman antiquities.

Palazzo Vecchio

Palazzo Vecchio is a house of powerful Medici family as well as Florence supreme governing body for the six centuries, a  palace built in the 12th century. The palace is packed with full of artifacts and artworks which includes beautiful frescoes, painted ceilings, intricate carvings that depicts historic and Biblical events. The Piazza Della Signoria is an L-shaped beautiful square centered in front of the Palazzo Vecchio. It is a political hub and focal point of the origin and of the history of the Florentine Republic. It is a meeting place of Florentines as well as numerous tourists.

Uffizi Gallery

Uffizi Gallery, world’s greatest art museums, Ponte Vecchio is one of the oldest and most photographed bridges, noted for its three segmented arches. Most of the visitors come here to shop and take photographs of a spectacular view when the lightning from the bridge is reflected upon the water.

The historical center of Florence is small and all sight is on the walking distance from one another. So if you have limited time, then staying in the center of the historic city is advisable because it will save a lot of traveling time. If you have enough time so one can also stay out of the historical center. The main advantage is that cost as you can save on cost per night to sleep outside of the historical center. Another reason is that it is a highly residential area where you can get to know the daily life of local Florentines. Outskirts or in the surrounding hills offer the panoramic view and relative quiet of the countryside as well as benefit from being close to the city. Hills of Florence has more parking space as well as large outdoor areas and garden with swimming pool.

Florence is a little and beautiful city to visit. It is tucked amid the Tuscan hills, casts a long shadow. It sheltered the powerful Medici family and inspired painter, sculptor, architect, and poet Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni and Brunelleschi. Tourist attracts towards Florence for Italian cooking, romantic charm and its magnificent Sunset.  Florence has been ranked by Steve Forbes as one of the most beautiful cities in the world due to artistic and architectural heritage, The Duomo is the most beautiful and magnificent church in Milan, it is the 4th largest cathedral in the world. In addition to that in Florence, there are some areas might be more appropriate for others for example if anyone is interested in nightlife then Via Dei Benci is recommended. As there are a lot of pubs and disco as well restaurants are open until midnight. Piazza San Lorenzo the main food market, with a lot of activities with gift shops, so one can hang out and do shopping for themselves, their friends and family.
