Your guide leads you on an excursion which includes Santiago’s most significant historical sites, including the downtown area surrounding the Plaza de Armas and the La Moneda Presidential Palace. Travel through the Mercado Central, one of Chile’s biggest fresh seafood markets, and walk by the many bustling stalls to witness the huge variety available from Chile’s abundant sea. Visit some of the lesser-known barrios of Santiago, including Republica and Concha y Toro, which were historically vested neighborhoods and home to Santiago's privileged society. There is time to wander around and take photos of the various styles of architecture dating back to the 19th and early 20th century. Proceeding through the cobblestoned Lastarria neighborhood, stroll through the Parque Forestal and cross by the Bellas Artes Museum. For a scenic vista of the city, visit the top of Cerro San Cristobal Hill, which stands 984 feet above the city.

During the trip, the opportunity to visit one of Santiago’s most renowned museums, La Chascona, is available. The former home of beloved poet and Nobel Laureate Pablo Neruda, the playful residence provides a snapshot into the life and mind of Neruda and is loaded with art, eccentric collections, and even his Nobel Prize. The free afternoon is free to explore further the city on your own.

Day 3 - Trekking to El Morado Glacier

Your guide will pick you from your hotel and head for the exciting peaks of El Morado National Park, one of the Central Valley’s greatest places to hike and explore. Start at Banos Morales and continue toward Laguna Morales, a small lake at 7,874 feet above sea level. After a picnic lunch, proceed along the way until you reach a viewpoint of San Francisco Glacier, one of the twenty-nine Chilean glaciers which have a significant influence on the nation’s landscape and water supply. Following the same path, head back to Banos Morales for some snacks before driving higher into the Andes for a relaxing soak in the Banos Colinas hot springs. This trip includes four to five hours of moderate hiking.

The hard work of winemakers has produced great results: crisp whites and spicy reds which are increasingly gaining attention around the world. First, start with the Matetic Winery. A state-of-the-art winemaking facility, Matetic was created to complement its elegant natural surroundings.
