Detailed Itinerary

You will be arriving in the capital city of Hungary to start the 8 days Hungary vacation package. Starting from Budapest, you will travel to Eger, Fels?tárkány, Szilvásvárad, Jávorkút, Lillafüred, Miskolctapolca and coming back to Budapest to end the tour. Check out the details of the tour day-wise in the following section:

Day 1: Arrival in Budapest

On the first day of the tour, you will be arriving in the beautiful capital city of Budapest to start your 8-days Hungary vacation package. You will be received by the tour operator and guide who will take you to the pre-booked hotel where you can get freshen up. Depending upon the timing of your arrival, you can make the itinerary for the day as well. if you arrive early, do come out to visit some parts of Budapest which are also called ‘Pearl of the Danube’ because of its grand buildings, bridges and a city full of history and culture. You can check out the thermal baths including the famous one called Gellért. Visit the Fishermen’s stronghold on Buda’s hill from where you can see the inciting view of the River Danube, the impressive Chain Bridge and the magnificent architecture of the Parliament. Explore the café culture of the city in the evening and stay here for the night.

Day 2: Visiting Eger

On the second day of the tour, you will be traveling to Eger which would take around 2 hours from Budapest by train. This city is one of the oldest settlements of Magyar in Hungary and is often called the Renaissance center of culture.  The town has one of the oldest fortified castles which is frequently visited by the tourists as well as the beautiful central basilica where you can discover the baroque charm of the city streets. Do not forget to taste the fiery Eger wines and also visit the famous Turkish Baths which are central attractions of Eger. The night stay will be planned in Eger.

Day 3: Travelling to Fels?tárkány from Eger

On the third day of the Hungary vacation package, you will be starting the walking tour by leaving Eger behind and get along a hiking path towards the east. This path will take you to the Hungarian countryside and towards the Bükk National Park. Your hiking trail will also take you through the vineyards and meadows and in this area, you can also find the best watermelons of Europe. Through your hiking trail, you will cross many rivers and forested zones to finally reach Fels?tárkány which is a beautiful village having vine gardens and parks. You will be walking around 15 km today and reach a maximum elevation of 500 meters. It is here that you will rest for the night.

Day 4: From Fels?tárkány to Szilvásvárad

On the morning of the fourth day, you will have a specialized Hungarian breakfast loaded with almonds and watermelon juice. After that, you will start your second walking day. you will be able to see a lot of wild animals in the area with the largest population being that of the wild boards. If you are lucky, you might even spot moufflons. You will be leaving Felsötárkány and walk along the river beeches and oaks to enter the woods. The highlight for the day would be visiting the valley of Szalajka creek which will be filled with several lakes and cascades. This place is also called as the 'Veil cascade'. You will reach Szilvásvárad which is known for its tradition of breeding Lippizan horses who come in all colors and are widespread in the region. On the second walking day, you would walk for around 18 km and reach a maximum elevation of 615 meters. Stay at Szilvásvárad for the night.

Day 5: From Szilvásvárad to Jávorkút

On the fifth day, you will leave the village and take a forest train or follow the hiking trail on foot to come out of the forest. You will go through the bicentennial forest of beeches and reach to near soldiers' tombs, which are sad memories of the past wars. If you take a walking trail today, you might have some of the best scenic experiences of the tour as well as eagles and falcons which are found in abundance in the region. This trail is located at the intersection of many hiking areas and is active throughout all the seasons. Reach Jávorkút by the evening and stay here for the night.

Day 6: Visiting Lillafüred

Today, you will be crossing the scenic Karst area to reach the village of Lillafüred which is one of the most beautifully located villages in the heart of the wooded valley where two creeks meet before flowing into the lake. You can enjoy the famous fairytale panorama of the place with an old castle overlooking the meeting of creeks. The place also has some beautiful cascades under the castle as well as three caves with each of them having impressive stalactites. You can explore them as well in an optional package. By the time you would settle for the night, you would have walked around 11 km in three hours.

Day 7: Traveling to Miskolctapolca from Lillafüred and transfer to Budapest

Today would be the last walking day and you will start walking eastwards through the peaks and passing close to Bükkszentkereszt. It is here that you will be taking an eastward turn and descend to reach to Miskolctapolca which is another beautiful village located in the hills. This place is centered through the thermal baths and you can enjoy some of them here. You can relax in the cave bath in which a spa complex is built inside the natural caves. You can then reach Miskolc station in the evening where you will be arranged a train to Budapest. Check out the nightlife of Budapest on the last night of the tour.

Day 8: Departure from Budapest

Today would mark the last day of the tour of Budapest. Depending upon the timing of your flight, you can make an itinerary for the day entirely in your leisure time. you can visit some markets for shopping for souvenirs for taking it home. The tour operator would help you to get transferred to the airport for departure proceedings.
