This is one of the best Fiji day tours! I am really happy with the service. The guide, captain, food everything was just perfect. Once the other groups started to arrive, we all started to get to know each other. We were then fitted for our life jackets and given trash bags to keep our bags dry. We boarded our long boat for a pleasant ride up the Navua River to the waterfall. The waterfall is absolutely gorgeous and the dip in the pool was refreshing. We then took our longboats to the bamboo raft location. Our entire group of 22 was able to fit on one bamboo raft. Our "captain" was funny and had great jokes. Really great personality! Then, before the rapids, we got back on the longboats to ride to the village.
We were greeted by blowing of the conch shells and a drummer beating a hollow tree trunk. Offerings of fresh coconut juice were next (YUMMY!) along with watching our guide unveil our lunch which was cooking in a pit covered with banana leaves. We went into the community building where we witnessed a traditional kava ceremony (so cool!) and were treated to some dancing and music. Lunch was next and what a spread!!! So much delicious food!!! After lunch, we went to another hut where we were given demonstrations on how to open coconuts, how to weave baskets and carpets, and how they make their ink for their print art. Finally, we were treated to songs and introductions at the Preschool and I was even honored by being allowed to share one of my own preschool songs with the group! The women placed out their crafts and jewelry for purchase before we left. This tour was incredible and my children really got a lot out of it. It's great for all ages and they offer food options for vegetarians if needed.
