This was a very enjoyable tour and our guide Hector and his son were a pleasure to hang around with all day.We were picked up from our hotel in La Fortuna around 7am and dropped off around 4 pm after visiting Hanging bridges, La Fortuna Waterfall and Arenal Volcano.
we walked around conservation and saw a couple of hours worth of wildlife (boars, toucans, spiders, owls), vegetation, and about a dozen hanging bridges. the views were fantastic and it was an unbelievable way to start the day.
La Fortuna Waterfall:
a lot of stairs going down to see the waterfall and going back up was tiring for 3 in-shape thirty year olds. the waterfall is a must-see. apparently you are allowed to swim in the water there but it was closed when we visited due to recent rains - got the feeling that it wasn't open to swim all that often.
The lunch was delicious. classic costa Rican meal had some beers. food was included, beer was not.
Hiked down a path and up a bit of a hill to get a beautiful close view of the volcano. note, this is not a hike up the volcano but you are very close to it. here Hector told us a lot about the history of the volcano and costa rica. there were some tough steps on this hike.
We so enjoyed our day tour with Hector! He was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the wildlife we saw as well as the history of the volcano. It was a great day! He has a very good knowledge of his country. I definitely recommend this tour if you’re interested in the wildlife of Costa Rica.
