Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Galle

Today you begin your Sri Lanka journey by boarding your international flight to Colombo.

Upon arrival, you're met by your private guide at the airport and transferred down to the south coast to Galle. On reaching, you have enough time to settle into your hotel and enjoy some free time depending on your flight time. Taking a brisk walk around the local area is recommended as Galle is an amazing city to explore on foot.

 

Day 2: Introductory Tour of Galle  

The capital city of the Southern Province of Sri Lanka, Galle has a World Heritage Site to its name which is hugely responsible for its popularity with tourists. This site is a 300-year-old Dutch Fort, though there are other historical buildings to view as well. You can board the train or the bus from Colombo to reach Galle. The route is a coastal one and offers splendid views en route. The journey will take around three to four hours. Once you reach the town of Galle, your best bet is to travel around in a tuk-tuk or if you wish you can walk around the gorgeous town as well. It will give you a better feel of the place.

Galle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to a wonderful Dutch fort, with charming streets and lovely walkways. The fort area is one of its kind largest remaining fortress in Asia.

 

Day 3: Galle Exploration

Today is a free day for you to explore Galle independently and the surrounding areas as well. In case you feel interested in exploring Galle by bicycle, there are plenty of different routes for you to explore. You can talk to your specialist who would be more than happy to suggest you.

 

Day 4: Venturing to Bentota

Bentota is a coastal town in Sri Lanka, situated in the Galle District of the Southern Province and governed by an Urban Council. It lies approximately 65 km south of Colombo and 56 km north of Galle. Bentota sits on the southern bank of the Bentota River mouth, at an elevation of 3 meters above the sea level. The name of the town is originated from a mythical story according to which a demon named 'Bem' ruled the river bank.

You’ll be driven back along the coast with your guide to the sleepy town of Bentota this morning and the gorgeous crescent-shaped beaches. In case you wish to stop en route, your guide will be more than happy to do so. Later in the afternoon, your guide will take you to the pretty Brief Garden which is situated just outside of Bentota. Earlier the home of the landscape architect Bevis Bawa, the gardens make for a fascinating afternoon excursion.

 

Day 5: Enjoying a Relaxing Day in Bentota

Bentota is also considered a famous weekend getaway for many residents of Colombo. Predominantly, the local population is Singhalese Buddhists.

Today, enjoy a day at leisure in Bentota. Visiting a nearby turtle hatchery is recommended where a local project is helping to liberate baby turtles back into the ocean.

 

Day 6: Beach Time in Bentota

A day at your own leisure. Bentota boasts some of the best beaches in this region of Sri Lanka, and so this is an amazing chance for you to just sit back and relax in the tropical sunshine.

 

Day 7: Some More Beach Time in Bentota

Today is your final day of leisure. You may wish to do some last minute souvenirs shopping from the small town or enjoy yet another peaceful day just listening to the waves.

 

Day 8: Departure Back Home

Today morning, you'll meet your private guide and transferred to the international airport. Depending on traffic, the drive time does vary however your guide will make sure that you reach the airport in plenty of time for your onward flight back home.
