Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1: Arrival in Oslo
Today, youll arrive in Oslo. Your personal guide will welcome you at the airport and transport you to a luxury hotel. Stroll around Oslo at your own pace and head back to the hotel at night.
DAY 2: Exploring Oslo
After breakfast, get ready to witness the beauty of Oslo. Your guide will take you on a local sightseeing tour, featuring the National Theater, considered the home for Norwegian playwright Ibsens plays. Continue toward the seat of Parliament, the unique Storting building, and the Royal Palace, the residence of Norwegian monarchs since 1849. Walk through majestic Frogner Park with Gustav Vigelands exceptional sculptures and head to the City Hall, where the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony is held each year. Afterward, embark on an excursion to see relics of Norways distinguished seafaring past including 1,000-year-old Viking ships. Return to the hotel for the night.
DAY 3: Traveling to Vemork and Telemark
In the morning, start your journey by proceeding to Heddal Stave Church, the largest of the remaining medieval wooden churches of Norway. Venture through the narrow Rjukan Valley via Lake Tinnsjo. Next stop is Vemork, famously shot in the 1965 British war film The Heroes of Telemark and also registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your guide will explain all about the dramatic events of 1943 to gain insight into the technology of hydroelectric power generation, one of the pillars of Norways economy. Later, you will be driven to the rustic Telemark.
Day 4: Telemark Exploration and Heading to Bergen
Get ready for a day of scenic delightsthe thundering Latefossen twin-waterfall and the wild Hardangervidda mountain plateau. This is the place where Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen prepared for his polar expeditions. Wander through the orchards along Sorfjord, whose serene grandeur inspired composer Edvard Griegs Morning Mood, and pass Hardangerfjord by ferry. Your guide will accompany you to the Steinsto fruit farm, run by a family of eight generations. Sample homemade apple juice and cider, and relish a delicious lunch. Continue your journey to Bergen, famous for its associations with the Hanseatic League.
DAY 5: Tour Voss and Stalheim
Today, explore the narrow lanes of medieval Bryggen and find the lively Bergen fish market. Afterward, head toward the famous lakeside resort of Voss, and join a thrilling optional Flam train ride. Reach Stalheim, overlooking the gorgeous Naeroydalen Valley.
DAY 6: Tour of Sognefjord and Loen
Start with a relaxing cruise on splendid Sognefjord and Naeroyfjord. Then, visit Fjaerlands amazing Norwegian Glacier Museum and watch an exciting 5-screen film. Later, marvel at Boyabreen, one of the branches radiating from Jostedal Glacier into the surrounding valleys, and relish the rugged mountain scenery as you reach the tunnel beneath mainland Europes largest glacier. After the Vatedalen Valley and pristine Lake Jolster, venture through the shoreline of the innermost branch of Nordfjord and reach peaceful Loen.
DAY 7: Explore Loen
Prepare for Norways latest splendid tourism project: the Loen Skylift, a cable car that brings you from the fjord to the top of Mount Hoven within a few minutes. Enjoy the awe-inspiring views of Lake Lovatnet, Jostedal Glacier, Mount Skala, and the Nordfjord. Uncover one of the hiking trails at your own pace.
DAY 8: Venture to Lillehammer
Venture north today via Lake Hornindal to Hellesylt to board for a luxury cruise on Geirangerfjord past the popular Seven Sisters cascade. Later, climb above the tree line to 5,000 feet for spectacular views from the Geiranger Skywalk, Mount Dalsnibbas latest platform above the fjord. Continue your journey to Lom and witness its lonely stave church. Travel through the wide Gudbrandsdal Valley, the lush dairy and timber land of Ibsens drama, Peer Gynt and reach Lillehammer, the proud host of the 1994 Winter Olympics.
DAY 9: Return to Oslo
Begin your day with a scenic stop at the Olympic ski jump. Embark on a guided walking tour of the unique Maihaugen Open-Air Museum to see a captivating collection of houses and farmyards. Enjoy a fun drive along adorable Lake Mjosa to Eidsvoll, the place where Norways democratic constitution was signed in 1814 before you return to Oslo. Mark the last day in Norway with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
DAY 10: Fly to Reykjavik, Iceland
After breakfast, youll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Reykjavik, Iceland. Meet your guide who will drop you at the luxury hotel. Walk around the city at your own pace.
DAY 11: Explore Reykjavik
Your guide will transfer you to your pre-booked session at the famous Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. In the afternoon, take a guided boat tour to observe whales in their natural habitat. This evening, go on a drive away from the city lights to witness the Northern Lights.
DAY 12: One Day Tour of Geysir
After a day in Reykjavik, continue your journey to Thingvellir, a geological paradise. Wander through the rift valley that marks the boundary between the North American and European tectonic plates. Later, stop at the hot springs at Geysir for a real treat. Have lunch at a local restaurant in the geothermal areas. Sample freshly baked bread, cooked using the heat from the hot springs, with some delicious Icelandic butter, boiled eggs, and herring. Couple it together with a glass of Geysir schnapps, served at the freezing point. End the day at the mighty Gullfoss waterfall.
DAY 13: Lake Jokulsarlon Sightseeing
Venture through the national park at Skaftafell and stop at Lake Jokulsarlon. Many splendid scenes of the James Bond movie Die Another Day were filmed here. Witness how Europes largest glacier, Vatnajokull, flows into the lake, thus forming icebergs. A thrilling optional guided boat trip through the icebergs is also available, weather permitting, before you return back to your hotel.
DAY 14: Return to Reykjavik
Enjoy a splendid drive along Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls and witness the Eyjafjallajokull volcano, famous for the eruption that produced the enormous ash cloud in 2010. Reach Hellisheioarvirkjun and visit the geothermal heat and electric Power Station. Return to Reykjavik and enjoy a farewell meal at one of the citys finest restaurants.
DAY 15: Depart Iceland
