Situated in the North Atlantic Ocean is a Nordic country - Iceland spanning an area of 1,03,000 sq. km. The World Happiness Report ranks the country among the top five happiest countries in the world. Also, the country's crime rate is quite low. Located at the border of two continental plates - Eurasian and North American the country is geologically and volcanically active. 

This is what makes it a good tourist spot. Waterfalls, National Parks, churches, geysers, rainbows, whales are some attractions that entertain all ages. If you are a parent and wanna take your children on vacation, Iceland vacation is a prime destination.

What to see in Iceland 

Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral,  Reykjavik

Being in Iceland this lavish Lutheran church is a must-watch place. This 244 feet high structure is one of the tallest structures in Iceland. Named after the poet Hallgrimur Petrusson the church offers modern services and weddings take place here. Built-in Expressionist Neo-gothic style its design resembles neighboring trap-rocks, mountains, and glaciers.

See the scenery around Dyrholaey Lighthouse 

Established in 1910 the lighthouse is situated on the central south coast of Iceland. This castle-shaped lighthouse is about 174 miles from Reykjavik, the capital city. Take your pupils to the top of the lighthouse and show them Mýrdalsjökull glacier to the north, Reynisdranger black lava sea stacks to the east, and endless black coastline to the west.

For most people Lighthouse is a completely different experience, and they have their ways of the lighthouse despite not visiting it. If you are staying nearby the capital city make sure you don't miss the Golden circle that links Pingvellir [pronounced Thingvellir] National Park, Geysir geothermal area, Gullfoss waterfall, etc. Pingvellir National Park is the first stop from Reykjavik, the capital city, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy boating in the nearby Longjokull glacier and Pingvallavatn the largest lake.

Kirkjufellsfoss the waterfall located near Mount Kirkjufell is worth seeing. Enjoy the midwinter waterfall under northern lights. Bruarfoss is located in southwest Iceland, the deep gorge formed by this fall will make you take out your cameras.

Take a ride across Langjokull glacier. You need to be 6 years old to be a passenger and 18 years old to be a driver. Also, the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon offers you a fun time with a surreal experience.
