Detailed Itinerary

(Day 1): Matetsi Private Game Reserve

Here starts the Best of Zimbabwe Safari 2019! You will be witnessing the glaring Zambezi River that roars stunningly falling into the mist-filled chasm and coming up into the air clouds of condensation all through the sky. The Victoria Falls is the perfect example of “the Smoke that thunders”.

After reaching the airport, you will be greeted by your private guide! You will be transferred to the Matetsi River Lodge. Within the reserve, this is the only available accommodation. You will get private safari here and will be watching zebras grazing, baboons playing, buffalos wandering, and hippos quarreling.

  • You can see from the magical river and hear its sprawling sound from your lodge.  You will experience the incredible 50,000 hectares of wilderness and 17 miles of private river frontage at the Matetsi Private Game Reserve.

  • You can easily reach the safari oasis from the falls. You will also see its surrounding completely with four-legged wildlife of Zimbabwe.

  • There will also be an assortment of activities like sunset boat cruises, twice-daily game drives canoeing, walking safaris and much more depending on the level of your energy.

(Day 2): Victoria Falls

This is the second day of your Zimbabwe tour package! You are already at a place which is undeniably the perfect way os getting access to the Victoria Falls. You are going to travel downriver to see the louder growling of the Victoria Falls.

  • It’s a great idea to stop by an Island and enjoy exploring the areas in the vicinity of the trails. And, the amazing vista over a mile-wide sheet of water is going to be an out-of-the-world experience.

  • Then up the River, you can take a boat! Here, you will enjoy hippos wading and the migratory elephants welcoming you.

(Day 3 & 4): Hwange National Park

This is the third part through the Best of Zimbabwe Safari 2019! Today, you will be taking a short flight to Hwange in the South. It’s going to be an incredible experience with the flight beautifully swooping over to Zimbabwe’s West, its unbroken wilderness. This flight is going to be low enough to see some beautiful bunches of elephants traveling into the woodlands.

  • Today you will be reaching the largest and the longstanding National Park of Zimbabwe called Hwange National Park.

  • You will get to see an incredibly large herd of buffalos and elephants roaming in the park. And, there are Gemsboks grazing!

  • In the vicinity of the camp can be found Africa’s hugest population of wild dogs in the heart of Hwange.

  • There will be many interesting things to do when in Hwange National Park! And, you will be exploring different animals and habitat here in the park.

  • Two days in Hwange National Park are going to be incredulously exhilarating!

(Day 5): Lake Kariba (Matusadona National Park)

On the fifth day of your wonderful Zimbabwe Safari, you will be taking a flight to the North! Across Zimbabwe, this is going to be the first of your chartered light aircraft journeys. Once you reach the destination, you will find giraffes and buffalos in herds on the plain.

  • You will be starting off with your journey today from Matusadona, situated in the backdrop of the Mountains. This destination is an extraordinary example of beauty and wonder. And, perfectly the best place for clicking a large number of pictures.

  • You will be staying at the shores of Lake Kariba, Changa Safari Camp. Here you will witness the perfect escape into the waterfront.

  • And, at the Lake Kariba, you will definitely have some experiences that will bring back the memories of some waterfront getaway.

  • You will be enjoying a boat safari to enjoy the chirping of beautiful birds, a beautiful spectacle of fish eagles.

  • You can also opt to spend some leisurely time on the beach watching the buffalos and the hippos.

  • And, there are also a number of things to do in Lake Kariba apart from enjoying the waterfront tranquility. You can enjoy a drive, go for water-based activities or enjoy walking the trails.

(Day 6): Matobo Hills National Park

Today, before you fly down to the South of Zimbabwe, Bulawayo,  spend some leisure time on the lakeshore. And, then you will be transferred some distance away from Matobo Hills, the World Heritage Site.

  • Here, you will be awestruck with the sight of a large number of black eagles and leopards in that lovely broken landscape.

  • Apart from that, there are other mammals including both black and white rhino that you will be seeing.

  • This day, you will particularly be focused on seeing the endangered giants! You will awestruck watching the fearless rhinos rumbling past.

  • After ending your exploration, just enjoy your dinner and get back to your den. Relax, Rest & get yourself ready for the next day explorations.

(Day 7): Matobo Hills National Park 

This part of the day is particularly going to be special! These hills are often referred to as “World’s View.” And, you will get the answer to the same as you walk castle kopjes and the summit of the granite domes.  At the top of the hill, you will get to find overhangs and history etched into caves. Your guide will give you every bit of information on that!

While the hills will take you to majestic safari, the paintings will give you an elaborated idea on the wildlife in the vicinity of it. There are only relaxed and short walks when you can explore different antelopes in the area. Your guide will tell you how a soar by an eagle is an indication of something intriguing in the vicinity. 

(Day 8): Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve

Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve spanning an area of around fifty-thousand hectares has a vast number of wild animals that are the key attractions here. The uniquely spectacular landscape with ridges and Rocky outcrops with continual placements of ironwood thickets and woodlands. These are dotted with baobab trees and spill onto Savannah.

  • You will get to see here, how this compact space has exceptional varieties. And, it offers the easiest safari experience.

  • You will fly here and settle into the tranquility. On your safari experience, there will be game walks, twice-daily game drives and boat cruises on the lake.

  • This is going to one of the Best of Zimbabwe Safari 2019 and you will feel as if it has become your personal garden space. 

(Day 9): Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve

You are going to incredible parts of Zimbabwe with the unpredictably vast Gonarezhou being in the vicinity of the charming Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve. This place is one of those places of Africa you will see animals in an altogether distinct way, with the roving woodlands and the red valleys being the attraction of the area. It’s wonderful to see the extremely aggressive giant mammals, keeping no stone unturned in keeping their space safe. And, Gonarezhou is in the other section of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park.

(Day 10): Johannesburg – Departure

And, Malilangwe is a great place to get to the end of your Zimbabwean safari. You can take a flight to O. R. Tambo International in Johannesburg, which is the largest airports in Africa. Today you will be flying back home!
