Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Glimpses of the Big Africa Safari: Travel from Lusaka to South Luangwa National Park

Follow the lines of the Great Rift Valley, crossing swathes of forest and long stretches of open plains. Touch down beside Thornicroft’s giraffes, the only species which is endemic to the park. Do sense the closeness to the giant elephant herds and in no time see them live in front of you ambling in and out of the trees. Stand at the banks of the great  Luangwa River, Being located at the center of the park, it is also known as the heart of the Luangwa National Park. Find your perfect suite and relax there for some time. Enjoy the game drives, complimentary massage upon arrival, and a relaxed evening of private dining on your deck.

Day 2: Lounging on the Luangwa River

Unlike other safaris, melodious sounds from birds would not be the only sound that will wake you up, but the sound of the nearby hippos will make you get up of your bed and jump to the balcony to spot some. Before starting an exclusive game drive to the park, you will enjoy a delectable breakfast followed by a chilled drink that will make your day. Luangwa River Camp is situated in the heart of the park, and the drive can go in many directions depending on your preference. You will have a decent time duration of about 2 to three hours in which you can drive closer to the lodge and can come back for the lunch and the afternoon activity.

Day 3: Luxury Safari under Canvas in a Remote Part of South Luangwa

During the first two days of your safari, you were in the comfort zone of the park. You enjoyed a relaxed Zambia safari while keeping a proximity to the lodge. But the real safari begins to the south of the park. On the day three of your safari, you are going to explore the untamed roads of South Luangwa. Very few people come out here, and although it’s not a private concession, it feels like a private safari playground. There are no fences, and Mchenja Bushcamp positions you in the middle of the wild, with luxurious canvas suites overlooking the river and surrounding plains. Explore the south of  Luangwa National Park and get amazed by the best of the bush either by foot or by a vehicle.

Day 4: Travel from Lilongwe to Cape Maclear

This would be the only significant day of travel on your trip. It starts with a drive from South Luangwa to an area where mammals dominate. Yes. you guessed it right. It will be a game drive that provides a farewell to the area’s mammals. There is a direct flight connection from the park’s Mfuwe Airstrip to Lilongwe, Malawi’s vibrant capital. Step into a remote village on the southern shores of Africa’s most beautiful lake. Get majestic glimpses of Malawi, an incredible array of color and enthusiasm can be found along the remote roads.

Day 5: Relax on Africa’s Most Beautiful Lake - Cape Maclear

Cape Maclear is a place where water glistens, and the morning sun reflects off soft waves created by the breeze. The lake is remarkably blue and absolutely pristine to be witnessed by a human eye. You will find the beach mostly deserted. The soft yellow sand of the beach would be perfect for lounging. Rugged cliffs and hills provide a magnificent backdrop to your pictures. Have fun enjoying the water and the sand altogether at the Cape Maclear lake. There are “n” number of activities that you can do while relaxing at this most beautiful lake in Africa.
