Day 1: Vienna

The home of Beethoven and Opera, Vienna is a city of museums and grand palaces and is immersed deeply in culture and glory. One of the best cities in Austria, Vienna is dotted with plenty of gorgeous parks and royal buildings such as the Hofburg Imperial Palace. If you are an art and history buff, then a visit to the architectural wonders such as the ornate St Stephen’s Cathedral and the magnificent Schonbrunn & Belvedere Palaces are a must for you to feed your senses during your Austria vacation. Do try the popular Viennese coffee at one of the many lovely coffee houses and take a look at the world-known Vienna Opera House. 

Day 2: Salzburg

Whenever you think of Salzburg, an image of an enchanting city surrounded by swaying green meadows, glorious historical buildings as well as Mozart comes into mind. When it comes to the top places to visit in Austria, then Salzburg definitely tops the list. The city is the birthplace of the great composer and is also the place where the legendary movie ‘Sound of Music’ was picturized.

Day 4: Bregenz

The city of Bregenz is situated on the shores of Lake Constance and offers magnificent views of Switzerland, Germany, and the Alps. A boulevard which runs along the waterfront makes for an amazing place for a walk. The city is packed with lovely art and architecture in itself. You can find a number of hiking trails by embarking on a cable car ride to the top of Mt. Pfander and relish a meal at the mountaintop restaurant with a sweeping view. During the months of July and August, Bregenz also hosts the popular Bregenz festival which you can attend for the amazing orchestra, the opera, and many other cultural events. 

Day 5: Salzkammergut

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Salzkammergut is an Austrian resort area which is surrounded by pristine lakes, snow-covered mountain ranges, and lush hills. For more than a century, Salzkammergut has served as one of the major tourist destinations in Austria. You can enjoy a number of thrilling outdoor activities here, which include horseback riding, cycling, mountaineering, and swimming. The region is also known for a number of lavish spas and hotel resorts, which make it a perfect destination for travelers seeking a combination of adventure and relaxation. 

Day 6: Hochosterwitz Castle

Hochosterwitz Castle, which resembles Game of Thrones symphony isrising about 170 meters high above the swaying fields and pine-clad hills that appear so gorgeous on the Zollfeld plains between the Eastern Alps and the Julian Alps. It is considered to be one of Europe's most incredible citadels and boasts a history that goes back to over 1,000 years, embracing tales of Habsburg emperors, the terror of Turkish incursion from the east, and Carinthian dukes. You can reach to the top of Hochosterwitz across the old fortified entrance trail, crossing about fourteen defensive gates as you watch the landscapes of East Austria and Slovenia unroll on all sides. 

Day 7: Melk Benedictine Abbey

One of the most popular monastic sites in the world, Melk Abbey boasts magnificent buildings that are laid out around 7 courtyards. Its twin-towered church which is soaring above a semicircular terrace range and the west end are the most celebrated part of this huge 325 meter long complex. Situated on a craggy outcrop high above the Melk town and passing over the Danube, the abbey comprises of many other reasons to spend some quality time exploring it. 

Day 8: Eisenstadt

In Spite of its compact size, Eisenstadt boasts a rich history and used to be the home of the popular 18th-century composer and musician Joseph Haydn. One of the major highlights of the city, Esterhazy Castle boasts one of the world’s most charming concert halls. The historic old town is lined with cafes, restaurants, and cafes, and there are just so many museums here for the history lovers. You can also make a day trip to the area that surrounds Eisenstadt, which is a famous wine-growing region. Witness the vineyards here and try out the mouth-watering food.
