Tour Description

Cuba is one of the most exciting travel destinations around and it is easy to understand why. The country has a rich and colorful history that still commands most aspects of Cuban life. Cuba is a Latin American nation but it has a unique feel all of its own and on this Latin America adventure tour, we encounter many of these interesting facets. There's Havana, in all its faded grandeur, waiting to be explored. Few cities in the world can enchant such emotions. Further on is the Vinales region, well known for its tobacco growing and cigar industries. On the south of the island in colonial Trinidad, where we can walk the cobblestone streets and listen to Cuban beats in the Casa de La Trova.  Throughout our Cuban holiday, we are able to discover the history of the Cuban Revolution and, in Santa Clara, its famous icon, Ernesto Che Guevara.


Day 1: Havana

Bienvenido a Cuba! Welcome to Cuba! On your arrival at Havana's Jose Marti International airport, we will transfer you to your hotel. Kindly provide your flight details to your booking agent at least 14 days prior to travel so that we can organize a smooth transfer. A welcome meeting will be conducted at approximately 6 pm this evening. After checking in please look for the signs at the reception area where companies can leave notes for their travelers. You will get a folder containing the welcome letter for you to read. The welcome letter will convey where the orientation program will take place. Please keep ready your passport, travel insurance and next of kin information as we will collect them in the meeting. The meeting will be followed by an optional group dinner. As there are endless things to do in Havana, we suggest staying a few extra days to make the most of this impressive city. We will be happy to assist you with the additional booking of accommodation. If you arrive early, please note most ventures in Cuba can only be booked through the tourist desk in the lobbies of the bigger hotels or direct with the venue. Otherwise, there are lots of high-grade museums to check out, including the Museo de la Revolucion and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes.

Day 2: Havana

This morning at 9 am your guide will pick you up from your Hotel Nacional to visit outer-Havana in a convoy of classic American vintage cars that travels via points of importance such as the Malecon, Revolucion Square, Vedado and concluding in Old Havana. Next, your tour leader will take you on a walking tour of the charming Old Havana for approximately 2.5 hours. Visit the cathedral, San Francisco de Assis, Plaza de Armas, Central Park, and Plaza Vieja. Now that you are familiar in Old Havana you have the rest of the afternoon to enjoy time at leisure and explore further yourself. Your tour leader can help you to hire a taxi if you wish to spend the night at the hotel.

Day 3: Soroa/Vinales

This morning travel for one hour west to Soroa to visit the beautiful orchid garden. A local specialist will take you on a private tour of the gardens to recognize the bird and plant species of this diverse area for approximately 45 minutes. You will easily understand why the valley is known as the rainbow of Cuba. After launch, we will travel for 1.5 hours to reach Vinales, where tobacco and sugarcane fields rest side by side and limestone outcrops mark the landscape. Here you will get the opportunity to take part in an open Spanish lesson so you can converse with the friendly locals throughout the rest of your tour. After checking in to the guesthouse, you will get enough time to undertake a quick orientation walk. Later, possibly enjoy the porch rocking chair and experience the slow, old-world pace of rural Cuba as oxen walk beautifully along the streets.

Day 4: Vinales

At 9 am embark on 3 hours guided walk through the farmlands of Vinales, which you'll soon find is home to some amazing scenery, some of Cuba's best. Know more about the tobacco industry and view a farmer whip a world-class cigar in seconds. Take some time to take a local place for lunch, then start around 4.30 pm to take on the rhythm and learn a few steps in a salsa dancing class. Next, proceed to the top of the valley to enjoy dinner at an eco-farm. Everything is produced organically on the farm itself, so get ready to experience one of the freshest dinners in Cuba!em

Day 5: Bay of Pigs/Cienfuegos

Get ready for a long travel day as you board the cozy bus at 8 am towards Cienfuegos. Travel back through Havana before pausing in the Bay of Pigs for lunch. After lunch, go for a dive in the crystal clear water or just sit back and try to imagine the battle fought in this monumental bay. Then it is just a short drive for approximately 1   reach Cienfuegos, one of Cuba's best-looking coastal spots. Reach sometime after 5 pm and take a short introduction walk before visiting the Palacio del Valle, Cienfuegos' architectural pride and delight. Its theatrical carvings in Venetian alabaster strike an awesome pose in this charming seaside city.

Day 6: Trinidad

Today a two-hour drive will take you to Trinidad. During a guided walk of the town for 1 hour, take in its beautiful combination of cobblestone streets, picturesque houses, and old-fashioned locals. It's an excellent town to explore on foot, and almost every scene offers outstanding photographic opportunities. You will get the opportunity to capture residents relaxing with huge cigars on their doorsteps to old Chevrolets passing by in your camera. In the evening take a trip out of the city to a local house for a homely and celebratory dinner. Be embraced with the local drink; Canchanchara made from 'firewater', lime juice and local honey. There will even be a musician or two entertaining you and your fellow travelers as you enjoy dinner.

Day 7: Trinidad

Today, make your way into the mountains behind Trinidad for spectacular views over the coast below and a really fascinating walk through the Topes de Collantes nature reserve, ending at a beautiful waterfall for an exhilarating swim. Enjoy lunch at a typical Cuban hacienda before heading back to the city in the afternoon. The remaining of the day is yours to explore Trinidad's UNESCO World Heritage center.

Day 8: Santa Clara/Havana

Today travel for approximately 1.5 hours to reach Santa Clara. After lunch, visit the Che Guevara mausoleum. Here you'll view the statue of the legendary revolutionary leader looming. In the museum that follows the mausoleum, you'll see an interesting spread of photos and other ephemera related to Che – letters, firearms, and medical devices. Travel for 3 hours to reach the capital to enjoy your final night in Havana.

Day 9: Havana

Your Latin America escorted tour comes to an end after breakfast this morning. We will transfer you to the Jose Marti International airport for your flight back home.
