This morning, your guide will take you for 2 to 3-hour private walking tour of Havana's atmospheric old town, visiting the four main Plazas of Havana Vieja as well as many of its cobbled streets and vibrant, colonial buildings.

Day 3: Exploring More of Havana

Today, you'll enjoy some time on your own to explore Havana at your own pace. Eating out in Cuba is more about the experience than the food itself and there are plenty of family-run restaurants here that offer a great taste of traditional cooking and provide good value for money as well. In the evening, make your way out for dinner at one of the many great restaurants suggested in your travel pack.

Day 4: Heading to Vinales

Your private guide will pick you up this morning from the hotel and take you to the picturesque town of Vinales in the tobacco-growing region of Pinar del Rio, situated at around two and half hours from Havana. You'll get to stay in a simple homestay together with a local family, which is going to be an amazing way to get an insight into rural Cuba. On the way, you will stop at a specialist cigar factory and learn more about the most famous export of Cuba.

Day 6: A Scenic Journey to Las Terrazas

Get ready to be transferred to the rural community of Las Terrazas today, which is at an hour's drive north. It's a picturesque journey: you cross tropical fruit plantations and mountain ranges covered in thick jungle, lakes, and valleys. Relax in your hotel room or take a rowing boat out on the Lago del San Juan, the lake around which this community is clustered.

Day 7: Enjoying Time in Las Terrazas

Today, you’ll explore Las Terrazas at your own pace. There are a number of energetic activities on offer, such as zip-lining and birdwatching. One especially nice way to get a feel for this community is to make your way to local artists' studios or El Cusco Bazaar, a place exhibiting local handicrafts and art. Las Terrazas' most famous son was a well-known Cuban musician, Polo Montanes. It is also possible to visit what was once his home and to connect with the local musicians and artists who gather here weekly.

Day 8: Visiting Trinidad

Today morning, embark on a long 7-hour journey east through the countryside to the colonial city of Trinidad which is undoubtedly the most complete colonial city in the country. Wandering around Cuba is always interesting and you'll cross through local towns unperturbed by tourism as well as having plenty of chance to stop off and stretch your legs.

Day 9: Trinidad Exploration

Today, make your way into the mountains behind Trinidad for spectacular views over the coast below and a really fascinating walk through the Topes de Collantes nature reserve, ending at a beautiful waterfall for an exhilarating swim. Enjoy lunch at a typical Cuban hacienda before heading back to the city in the afternoon. The remaining of the day is yours to explore Trinidad's UNESCO World Heritage center.
