This is the arrival day for all of our tour members and depending on your flight arrival times you can spend a day exploring one of the UNESCO heritage sites in Quito's Old Town or just relax at the Hotel before your Tour Guide meet you at the Lobby at 6:30 pm for the Orientation meeting and briefing before the starting of the tour. During this meeting, you can clarify everything as you might be concerned or interested to know about the tour overall. We can also assist you in planning a full day in Quito or surroundings if you let us know in advance.
Early in the morning, we will travel for one and a half hours to the entrance of Cotopaxi National Park situated 45 miles south of Quito city. On the way, you will cherish the views of the Grand Avenue of the Volcanoes. Once we reach, we will proceed just 7 more miles to the Mariscal Sucre Museum situated at 12,000 ft above sea level. It is the first contact with nature and altitude. We will explain to you about the preserved areas with a cup of Cocca tea. After this, we will proceed towards LImpiopungo lake over 12,800 ft. This is an enchanting place right between Cotopaxi and Ruminahui volcanoes, it is a glorious moment for a beautiful picture surrounded by nature. Then we will travel to 15,000 ft. up. We can plan hiking up towards the basecamp known as Refugio RIVAS at 16,000 ft. if you feel fine with the altitude. If not you can also cherish the grand Cotopaxi which in Quechua means The Neck of the Moon. After this, you will get ready to continue with the MTB tour downhill all the way down to Limpiopungo Lake. The descent is going to be a fast one of approximately an hour. In the end, you will enjoy a delectable lunch with a spectacular view of the Andes. Finally, we will travel for approximately 2 hours to reach our lodge called LLULLULLAMA. It is an excellent moment to take your camera and wait for the sunset with a cup of hot coffee or tea provided by the hotel.
Today it is time to check out right after breakfast and be prepared to start the hike from Tsilivi towards Chugchilan village. it is going to take at least 4 to 6 hours to cover the total distance of 12 miles. It will take longer than a regular hike because of the high elevation in most of the part. It will go between 10,000 to 12,000 ft in some parts, so you can feel moderate tiredness but there is nothing that you have to worry about. During this hike, you will experience how our local communities live and farm because the entire hike is through villages and crops. you will also savor a delicious lunch in a village. Finally, we will arrive at Mama Hilda hotel in Chugchilan town for overnight. Normally we finish this tour by 3 pm, so you will get some time to explore the little town on your own.
After breakfast, we will travel for 30 minutes towards Quilotoa Lake located at 12,000 ft. above sea level. From this point, you will get ready for a descent to the crater that should take approximately 25 minutes. At the lake, it is possible to hire kayaks for 30 minutes or 1 hour with an additional cost, depending on your level of experience. However, this kayak is comparatively easy. After that it is time to decide if you want to hike up or rent a mule if you decide to hike, it sounds great but we advise you that it will take you at least 1 and half of a very steep slope. If you hire a mule it is much comfortable and you ride for only 30 minutes. After this adventure, we will travel for 3 hours towards Banos city far from Quilotoa. Along the way, we will get many stops such as the Ice Sorbet tasting, Viewpoints and much more. Finally, we will arrive at Banos city for overnight in an amazing hotel and enjoy some of the Banos Nightlife.
Early in the morning, we will begin our tour visiting some Banos City sites like the local market, the main Church, the Melcochas tasting. Then we will proceed towards the popular Waterfalls Avenue. It is the way to the Jungle with more than 30 waterfalls. on this tour, we will see the most beautiful ones named Egoyan. Here you can enjoy zipline with an extra cost. In Manto de la Novia, you can go across Pastaza Canyon by cable car, known as Tarabita. At Pailon del Diablo, we will walk down to view the largest waterfall and discover its 6 balconies few feet away from the water. At this place, if you want, you can enjoy a nice meal for less than 6 USD. Then we will travel to Cumanda village. This is going to be the starting of the Rafting tour down to Pastaza River. It is 14 miles total, which will take around 2 hours. Finally, it is time to travel 2 more hours to an exciting jungle lodge nearby TenaCity and in front of Napo River. You will be fascinated by this wonderful lodge service, at night we will serve delicious dinner, then finally go to bed. You can also enjoy the night at the Hotel Bar.
Waking up with the noise of chirping wildlife is something that is regarded as a welcome to the most diverse forest in the world. After breakfast, we will go for a motorized canoe ride on Napo River stopping at some villages like Misahually known as The Monkeys Town because there is Capuchin Monkeys all over the place. Then we will continue the canoe ride to Arajuno River, finally, you will arrive at the AMAZONIA Rescue Center, where you can view some animals from the jungle such as parrots, macaws, paroquets, ocelots, caimans, snakes, and a lot of different type of monkeys. You will walk around the place with a local guide learning more about the forest and the conservation projects. Then we will enjoy a picnic lunch near the shore of the Arajuno River. After lunch, we will proceed with the motorized canoe ride for 2 hours enjoying the landscapes and nature. We will stop at Tiyu Yaku Kichwa Comunity, where you will learn all about their way of living, ceramic products, and local cuisine. Finally, we will back to the hotel for overnight.
Today is the last day of your Latin America escorted tour in Ecuador. We will transfer you to the airport for your home flight or you can continue the journey with us.
