DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: San José to La Fortuna

You’ll be arriving today at the San José airport! From here, you’ll be renting a car or catching up a bus or taking a shuttle van to the La Fortuna town. On your way, you’re going to pass through the Green Mountains, the cattle fields, the occasional dense forest, and the coffee plantations. And, you’ll love the quint & small cities passing through the narrow roads. As you get closer to La Fortuna, the scene of the looming volcano looks incredible from a distance.

After you have arrived in La Fortuna, you’ll be transferred to your accommodation! In La Fortuna, you’ll get to see a charming central park, venture out to make an exploration of the shops and streets surrounding the area. And, at the end of the day just enjoy your perfect kind of dinner.

Important Considerations: If you’re flying late, make sure that you’re going to stay in the vicinity of Alajuela city. It’s very close to the airport and in its surrounding, there’s too much to dive into the panoramic view of nature.

 

Day 2: Arenal National Park - Hiking Day

Arenal National Park spans an area of 29,692 acres! It’s accessible through one ranger station. And, you’ll get the parking space for your rented taxi or car here in the area. You’ll have the freedom to catch up a public bus in a La Fortuna for an affordable amount. This bus will be dropping you at the main entrance gate of the park. It’s going to take just 20-30 minutes to walk into the park.

Arenal National Park has trails that are easy to navigate all through the former lava fields and the secondary forest. Most of these trails are flat and are therefore comfortable for people who can move in a limited way and for kids. You’ll get to find here four trails and they intersect with each other. Today, you are going through the Los Heliconias trail, where you’ll get the perfect view of Lake Arenal and the volcano.

Whether it’s a half day or a full day exploration will depend on how many trails you have explored. In the afternoon, you’ll be driving through Lake Arenal and exploring shops in downtown La Fortuna.

And if you want to continue hiking through, just explore to find some more private trails. The trail Arenal belongs to 1968 and is a little more challenging, but here you’ll get to see decades-old former lava fields.

 

Day 3: Relaxing Hot Springs & Hanging bridges

This is the third day of your Ultimate Costa Rica itinerary and today you’ll be relaxing into the hot spring and wandering around the Hanging Bridges.

Hot Springs

It’s time to loosen your body and make your body relax with the most popular Arenal hot springs. There are a lot of them available and you can choose as per your budget. The Tabacon Resort helps travelers as well as the locals with a delighting facility which will cost you around $ 60 per day. And, the good news is that there are also some free options and so those who are on a tight budget need not fret. Locals will guide you!

Hanging Bridges

Whatever you’ll hear about this gem of Costa Rica will be enough to motivate you to get to this place, (Arenal’s Hanging Bridges) even after you have only a bit of energy left. The trail all consists of 16 bridges and each of them has a different length ranging from 8 to 98 meters. And, this trail will be taking you high up in the rainforest canopy. You’ll get to see here the spectacular panorama along with the rich wildlife, birds and much more. Make sure, you have your camera ready or you’ll miss out on some really incredible pictures.

 

Day 4: La Fortuna to Manuel Antonio

This is the fourth day of your ultimate Costa Rica itinerary! Today, you’ll be getting up a little earlier and the perfect Costa Rica kind of breakfast ( Gallo Pinto). This day is designed to take you for a long journey around the Pacific coast. It is going to take you around five to six hours driving down to the destination. And, there are shuttle vans that will be taking you through your journey, if you don’t have your own wheels.

Shuttle vans are very good and affordable options! You’ll not have to waste an entire day in travel. And, if you want to save some more time, you can take a plane from La Fortuna to Quepos. And, the view that you are going to get from the height of 6-9 feet is just incredible. It’s going to be spectacularly adventurous to ride along the windy mountains of San José. At the end of the day just make sure that you are enough relaxed, enjoy delicious dinner. Don’t rush; you are on your vacation!


Day 5: Zip-line Adventure

You can go to a zip-line excursion that is arranged by your hotel! For this, you can contact the hostel authority. This type of Zip-line Adventure Costa Rica travel is designed in a way that it will be riding you into the countryside, providing lunch, dinner, and will be providing an outfit for the zip-lining adventure.

Quepos

Stop on the wonderful grounds of Quepos, once you are done flowing through the trees. Quepos is a small city in the vicinity of Manuel Antonio. You are going to visit the markets in the outdoor, enjoy sipping a cup of coffee, and enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants here. Then catch a bus back to Manuel Antonio.

 

Day 6: Manuel Antonio National Park

Manuel Antonio National Park is one of the best parks in Costa Rica! And, there are a number of reasons that make it so.  You’ll get to see here a variety of monkeys, birds, butterflies, and sloths.

In addition to that, here you’ll get to find a great number of beaches apt for picnicking and swimming. Make sure that you’re reaching this place a little earlier so that to get a huge chance to witness the never-seen wildlife.

In the afternoon, enjoy your type of perfect lunch at one of the beachside restaurants. Then in the other part of your day enjoy your ultimate Costa Rica itinerary vacation splashing through the waves on Playa Espadilla.
