Day 1: Arrival in San Ramon
The glamor of San Ramon brings out the beauty of Costa Rica’s popular microclimate, ecosystems, as well as elements of colonial history. San Ramon, known as the town of “Presidents and Poets,” has supported 5 men who have held the presidential office of Costa Rica since the 1940s. The rich heritage of the colonial structures in town connect the agricultural communities to the north with the urban centers of the San Jose Metropolitan area. As your flight lands at Juan Santamaria International Airport, your private guide will greet you upon your arrival.
You will soon make your way through the San Jose city, passing vibrant homes and commercial buildings that are painted with bright, tropical shades. The aroma of coconut, pineapple, guava, and avocados exude from the corner markets showcasing their produce along the open front wall. Your car will travel into the hillside and reach the town of San Ramon standing at nearly 3,500 feet above sea level.
Day 2: Another Day in San Ramon
This morning, the aroma of Costa Rican coffee filters through the dining room and mixes with the sweet scent of fresh guava and papaya juice. After breakfast, your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby ready to introduce you to the wonders of the Cloud Forest located on the 2,000 acres of private Los Angeles Biological Reserve.
Later on, you’ll continue wandering through the forest searching for elusive wildlife in order to find some of the country’s 906 different bird species before you discover the Slaty-tailed trogon. You will return back to the hotel after a day well spent exploring the wondrous sights, sounds, and scents of the forest and indulge in a rejuvenating spa treatment to refresh your body after a day trekking around the trails.
Day 3: Heading to Quepos
After breakfast, your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby and transfer you to the quiet pleasures of your resort in Quepos. You can stake a halt at the banks of the Tarcoles River and witness the crocodiles lingering in the slow current as the river traverses over 60 miles between the southern slopes of the Cordillera Central volcanic range and the Gulf of Nicoya, encompassing an area of nearly 820 square miles.
Day 4: Adventure in Quepos
This morning, you’ll be introduced to the grandeur of the mountainous terrain of the Central Pacific region. Your early departure time will offer a cool and rejuvenating climate to explore the network of trails.
The rainfall on the slopes forms two natural rivers weaving between the jungle terrain in order to provide quiet swimming holes in the natural pools set beneath a secluded waterfall. You can have your time in the waters of the hidden pool fed by the Rodeo River and enjoy the calming rush of the falls. The adventures continue in the trees on a canopy tour as you soar down 10 cables linked to 15 platforms spanning 222 acres of untouched rainforest with two distinctive ecosystems. Your guide will hook you to the line so that you can fly through the trees high above the forest floor. Enjoy the best view in the wild, and see the landscape like a bird.
Day 5: A Day tour of Manuel Antonio
After breakfast, get ready to further explore the thrills and wonders of Costa Rica’s stunning biodiversity. Before you get transferred to the unique coastal wilds of Manuel Antonio National Park, visit a small farm recreating the traditional experience of Costa Rican farmers. Your guide will lead you around the grounds to illustrate the different ways the farmer collects eggs, harvests tubers, and milk the cow in order to make cheese.
After lunch, your guide will escort you to the lavish grounds of Si Como No, situated along the idyllic hillside overlooking Manuel Antonio with terraces hidden inside the lucid jungle gardens and blend views to the effervescent Pacific Ocean and emerald forest. The boutique, located on 10 acres, well illustrates the spirit of Pura Vida with a commitment to eco-tourism and sustainability. The resort provides the comforts of a luxury property with a commitment to respecting, honoring and protecting the beauty of nature.
Day 6: Visiting Drake Bay
This morning, your guide will take you on a tour to Drake Bay. The day is entirely yours to explore as much of Drake Bay as you can.
Day 7: Departure for Home
After breakfast, you’ll be escorted to Palmar Sur Airport for your flight back to San Jose for your connecting flight back home.
