Chile is known for making wines of outstanding value, but that’s not to say Chilean wines don’t also include excellent bottles to boast about. As a modern world wine region, with 2,700 miles of coastline along the chilly Pacific Ocean, Chile makes wines that are both fruit-forward factor and herbaceous, comparable to French wine. It’s no surprise then, that French winemakers from Bordeaux have spent massively in the region, making it their home away from home.
Find out about Chile’s 7 most famous wine varieties, how they taste, and what particular regions to try out if you’re expecting to find great quality.
Along with culinary tasting experiences, enjoy biking through vineyards, trekking in the Andes, and sightseeing on a week-long Christmas vacation. Visit renowned museums and hidden jewels as you soak in the stunning landscapes and quaint villages which turn this region unique and entertaining.

In the morning, your guide will escort you to a tour which highlights Santiago’s most famous historical sites, including the downtown area encompassing the Plaza de Armas and the La Moneda Presidential Palace. Travel by the Mercado Central, one of Chile’s biggest fresh seafood markets, and stroll by the various bustling stalls to see the huge variety available from Chile’s bountiful sea. Explore some of the lesser-known barrios of Santiago, including Republica and Concha y Toro, which were historically vested neighborhoods and home to Santiago's high society. There is time to stroll around and take photos of the diverse styles of architecture dating back to the 19th and early 20th century. Continuing through the cobblestoned Lastarria neighborhood, wander through the Parque Forestal and pass by the Bellas Artes Museum. For a picturesque vista of the city, go to the top of Cerro San Cristobal Hill, which stands 984 feet above the city.
Day 3 - Trekking to El Morado Glacier
Meet your guide at your hotel and proceed for the exciting peaks of El Morado National Park, one of the Central Valley’s greatest places to hike and explore. Start at Banos Morales and proceed toward Laguna Morales, a tiny lake at 7,874 feet above sea level. Enjoy a picnic lunch, and again proceed along the trail until you reach a viewpoint of San Francisco Glacier, one of the twenty-nine Chilean glaciers which have a significant influence on the nation’s landscape and water supply. Following the same trail, move back to Banos Morales for some drinks and snacks before traveling higher into the Andes for a relaxing soak in the Banos Colinas hot springs. This journey requires four to five hours of moderate hiking.
