Detailed Itinerary

Day1: Arrival in Santiago

Today, your Chile journey will begin as you board an international outbound flight to Santiago. Upon arrival, your private guide will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel in the heart of the city. After check-in, get some time to relax at the comforts of your hotel room before heading out for the introductory tour of the city. This tour will include the Pre-Colombian Art Museum which is the best museum in the city, the historic center, Barrio Bellavista and Pueblo dos Dominicos to witness some traditional Chilean handicrafts.   

Day 2 - 3: Heading to San Pedro de Atacama

Your guide will meet you at the hotel lobby and transfer you to the airport for your flight to Calama. You’ll further be transferred to your hotel from the airport, where you can get ready for your two days exploration of the city. The most recommended places to visit in San Pedro de Atacama are Village Caspana on the shore of the Salado River which is known for its links to prehispanic cultures, Pukara Quitor, Pukara Lasana, Tulor Village which is one of the most ancient archaeological sites present in the Northern Chile, Petroglyphs of Yerbas Buenas and of Arcoiris Valley.

Day 4: Visiting Iquique

Today, you’ll be driven to the coastal city of Iquique and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Venturing to Geoglyphs Pintados and Unita Hill

Today early morning, you’ll leave your hotel and will be taken to the magical Atacama, which happens to be the world’s most sterile desert. En route to the desert, you’ll pass the towns of Pozo Almonte, where you’ll stop for some time and visit Cerro Unita and the Atacama Giant. A magnificent 86 meter-high figure, it illustrates the outline of a man with a feathered headdress. Later on, you’ll continue your journey to the Geoglyphs Pintados which is the most significant archeological sites in the area. It is a wonderful example of rupestrian art consisting of around 400 figures distributed along the hillsides in thematic groups.

Day 6: A Day in Arica

This morning, after breakfast, you will traverse along Route A-16, giving breathtaking views of Iquique and its surroundings. You will be crossing the commune Alto Hospicio and the Cordillera de la Costa, finally ending up at Humberstone. This one is a nitrate ghost town where you will get the objective for the grandeur of this period in the history of Chile. Once you reach the desert, you will be connected with the Panamerican highway. You will then be continued on to Arica, passing Tiliviche and Chiza and visiting the Chiza escarpment and geoglyphs. This site provides evidence into the fact that pre-Hispanic peoples used the valleys as their natural access routes to the coast. Later on, you will cross the ravines of Suca, Nama, Camarones, and Chaca, before you arrive in Arica.

Day 7:  Another Day in Arica

Today, you’ll be on a full day tour of Arica which will include a visit to national monuments like St. Mark’s Cathedral and the ex-Customs Building. These are both designed and then pre-fabricated in Gustav Eiffel’s workshops. You’ll then venture further along the South Coast to Alacran Island and the southern beaches. Fishmeal Industry Factory and the Historical Morro de Arica are also going to be there in your checklist for today. Later in the afternoon, you’ll be driven to the Azapa Valley which is packed entirely with olive, passion fruit, and mango farms.

You can also visit the local handicraft market to get an opportunity to appreciate locally made art and handicrafts. Return to your hotel by the evening.

Day 8: Return Back to Santiago

This morning, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Santiago. On reaching, you can explore the city a little bit more to make the most of your final night in Chile.

Day 9: Departure for Home

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the international airport for your flight back home.
