Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Belize

We will welcome you at the Dangriga airport and transfer you to your hotel, spend the night in this tiny town along the southern coast. You can spend your evening exploring the largest town in Southern Belize, and the spiritual capital of the country's Garifuna people. Despite sharing a similar ramshackle look and funky coastal vibe with Belize City, Dangriga doesn't have a big-city feel and is normally a safe place to explore. This is a proud, pleasant town, one that does its best to make the most of its vibrant Garifuna heritage.

Day 2 to 4 - Glover's Reef Atoll

This morning we will transfer you to the marina to meet up with the rest of the tour group for the kayaking part. Board a motor launch and travel 20 miles east of the main Barrier Reef to the private island base-camp at Glover Reef Marine Reserve. This Latin America adventure travel includes many hours of kayaking each day. You should be prepared for energetic and rewarding activities. Surrounded by vibrant coral reefs and stunning turquoise waters, start this adventure by rigging your kayak with main-sails and sailing along the shallow reef flats to a magnificent snorkeling site. Tonight enjoy an island feast, savor a mixed grill of seafood, fresh fish, and vegetables topped with Belizean coconut baking and tropical fruits.

Glover's is one of only three atolls in the Caribbean Sea and is really the most thrilling marine environment in Belize. Due to its remoteness from the mainland, the waters are exceptionally clear with an excellent rich reef system that offers the best kayaking, snorkeling, and diving in the Caribbean. Day 2 & 3 are fully at your leisure to fulfill your individual desires and abilities. Immerse in the real water sport and enjoy sea kayaking, snorkeling the inner and outer walls of the reef, kayak sailing, and windsurfing arranged for both novices and experienced boarders. For those of you who are certified divers, we can also organize dives on the outer walls. Once you think enough adventure has been done, you always have the choice of just kicking back in a hammock and enjoying your Belize vacation amidst incredible views holding a glass of beer.

The last morning on Glover's Reef is totally free and you have many optional activities to choose from. You may choose to don a mask, snorkel, and move for a final visit to your beloved coral reef, or fly fish on the flats before boarding the motor charter and return to the mainland.

Day 5 - Maya Mountains

Enjoy your last morning on the reef before saying good-bye to the tour group and travel back into the country's interior. You will take a boat to the mainland, where a van will pick you up and take you along the Hummingbird Highway to your home for the next three nights. On your way stop at the Belmopan Market, spread your legs, and find a snack among the stalls piled high with fruits and housewares. Your jungle lodge is located next to the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve and Roaring River. Surrounded by lush forest, your days at the lodge are filled with natural discoveries exploring the lush vegetation of the Maya Mountains and the secrets beneath.

Day 6 - Rainforest Zip-Line and Cave Tubing

This morning you have the exciting opportunity to soar through the jungle treetops raised above the forest floor. A short hike up into the rainforest lands you to the first of five platforms where you start your exciting journey back down through the jungle canopy on a series of cables. In the afternoon, enjoy a leisurely float through the caves and beautiful jungle on inner tubes. Hike to the to the Cave's Branch River with your inner tubes. From there, enjoy a float through a series of caves with sights of the towering rainforest in between.

Day 7 - Black Hole Drop

Today continue your Latin America adventure travel with the exciting Black Hole Drop. This highly adventurous trip has been described as a rush like no other! The adventure starts with a steep hike over clad limestone hills that go up, up and up to the edge of a collapsed cave system with a high forest growing out of the center and huge caverns on either end. Here your skilled team of guides prepares you to ease your way over the lip of the cave and lower you down the 300 feet into the fallen cavern's floor. The slow descent allows you to enjoy the view as you pass through the layers of the canopy on your way to the ground. This trip is for the dynamic people and is not recommended for the faint of heart.

Day 8 - Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave

Awake early today and get ready for your unforgettable adventure into the Maya underworld. You start your journey from the lodge doors, crossing creeks and traveling deep into the Belizean jungle to the opening of the sacred Actun Tunichil Muknal, the Cave of the Stone Sepulcher. At the entrance gear up with helmets and waterproof headlamps, then walk into the emerald colored water flowing from the cave's gaping mouth. The path follows the way the river is flowing through wet and dry caves encased in hanging stalactites and overlooking stalagmites. Your final destination is the dramatic primary chamber where ancient kings and priests made blood sacrifices to satisfy the Maya gods. Your headlamps lighten the ghostly outlines of skeletal ritual victims and scattered ceramic shards of ancient rituals. Tunichil is an active archeological site, so be mindful not to disturb the sleeping skeletons and ceramic pieces before returning to the light above ground. This is a fairly rigorous tour and travelers should be in good shape and fitness. For those looking for an alternative trip, a visit to the Barton Creek Cave is a wonderful choice for any age. There are also other activities available for those who choose to enjoy life above ground.

Day 9 - Return Home

Today your Latin America adventure travel ends.  After breakfast, we will transfer you to Belize City and you catch your international flight home.
