Welcome to Mexico! We will transfer you from the Cancun International Airport to your luxury beach resort at Playa del Carmen. It’s a 50-minute drive through the enchanting pine-lined way. Your Latin America journey starts with a welcome meeting at 6 pm today. Please look for the note in the hotel lobby or ask reception where it will be conducted. If you reach late, please inform the hotel reception. We'll collect your passport details, insurance details and next of kin information at this meeting, so it’s important that you keep the relevant documents with you. If you reach early then you are really lucky like Sam, who checked in the hotel and headed straight to the beach for snorkeling in freshwater rock pools (called Cenotes) and suddenly spotted Mia while strolling along the white sands. You can also enjoy reef diving on Cozumel. After the welcome meeting tonight, head out for a cocktail and a meal with your new tour buddies.
Leave behind one paradise for another, which is quieter and more beautiful. Travel south by local bus to Tulum, where white sand beaches and Maya ruins welcome you after a small one-and-a-half-hour journey. Take an orientation walk with your tour leader around the small town when you reach here, then head to the cliffs or the shore to view the sunshine at your own pace. The famous ruins that hug the cliff edge create a wonderful vision during the sunrise and sunset. If you want to avoid the crowd, opt for tomorrow morning and enjoy the sunrise at your own pace as Sam did and yes, Mia too. The first ray of sun that fall onto their face through the dramatic cliffs made them smile at each other. In the day time, you can hit the sand and the water as much as you can. In the evening, grab a few of your fellow travelers and enjoy a snack and a beer at a beach shack.
Today you can spend the day as you like. Perhaps enjoy your morning exploring the place on a rented two wheels. Then head to Akumal Bay for a change of view or check out one of the many freshwater rock pools known as cenotes. Cenote Dos Ojos is perhaps the most striking of the natural pools, but it is accessible by a three-kilometer walk each way from the local bus drop off. Remember to carry plenty of water and snacks as Sam did. He offered his water bottle to Mia who left her own, and it was the first interaction after their long breakup! Next head to Mexico's most renowned archaeological site, Chichen Itza, which is about a two-hour drive away.
Say Goodbye to Mexico early this morning and head south to Belize. Today you need to be prepared for a long continuous journey on the road without a chance to stop for lunch, as the total driving time including the border crossing will take about eight or nine hours. After arriving in Belize City we will board a water taxi to Caye Caulker. We will reach Caye Caulker by 6 pm. Boo! What a day, but trust us, it’s worth it. Go for an evening stroll and breath the purest of pure air on the island, then after gaining some energy, hit a beach bar and unwind. The calm and beautiful atmosphere of Belize turn people nice and friendly, here people very easily become friends. So how can Sam and mia stay without being friends again? They shared a drink on the beach bar and cheered to each other after a long time. Belize is the only English-speaking nation in Central America, which will make chatting with locals much easier.
Good morning and welcome to paradise! Today is free at your leisure to explore the island and surrounds or simply relax on the beach. Whatever you like to do, it’s quite impossible to keep the smile off your face. If you feel like snorkeling, ask your leader to arrange a trip to the coral nearby, or perhaps head further to Hol Chan Marine Reserve, home to the world’s second-largest coral reef. Of course, you could always take a stroll along the white-sandy beach and find a swaying palm tree with your name on it as Mia found. She immediately grabbed Sam and asked, “Do you have still feeling for me?” “Yes, I have”, his voice is as clear as the waters of the Caribbean.
The palm trees make the perfect place to relax, chat and soak up the island vibes when you are in love.
From the islands to the highlands, today you’ll bid goodbye to Caye Caulker and catch a water taxi to Belize City (one hour) and then head to San Ignacio (three and a half hours). On arrival, your tour leader will take you for a walking tour of San Ignacio and its twin sister Santa Elena, which will give you a feel of how vibrant the local Garifuna and Maya communities are. Tonight enjoy a Maya-style dish like Cochinita Pibil. Here Sam and Mia had their first dinner together after they were separated with roasted pork and a Mayan drink.
You have a full day at your leisure to explore San Ignacio. This charming city is surrounded by fast flowing rivers, waterfalls and Maya ruins, making it the ideal base. Mia and Sam took a hand-cranked ferry to visit Xunantunich, an awesome Maya ceremonial site nestled on a hill that overlooks the countryside. This is a fun way to cross the river and reach the hill. You can also visit the cave of Actun Tunichil Muknal, a living museum of Maya relics. In the late afternoon, the barbecue stalls of Santa Elena start their set up for the dinner rush. It's only a 15-minute walk, head with your fellow travelers to enjoy your last dinner together with a juicy chicken leg and a chat with the locals.
Your Latin America journey comes to an end this morning, we will transfer you to the airport for your home flight. Return your home with a heart full of beautiful memories as Sam and Mia returned together.
