Dilijan is sometimes also called as ‘Armenian Switzerland’! Located in the Dilijan National Park, this is one of the best tourist attractions in Armenia.
DETAILED ITINERARY
You will start visiting Armenia from Yerevan, the capital city! After a delightful and delicious breakfast, you will begin with the exploration of the city. Today, you will be visiting some of the best places in Armenia including Surb Sargis Church and the Blue Mosque. Then you have this Cascade climbing which will let you enjoy the spectacular view of the city. And, you can explore the Kond district for an off the beaten path travel experience.
After this, you will be heading towards the Erebuni Fortress, one of the ancient urban areas. Here, you will learn every historical detail of this place. You can then enjoy your lunch at one of the local restaurants. In the evening you can enjoy being in the swanky bars.
Visiting Armenia is going to be the perfect thing! You will be visiting the Armenian Genocide Museum and here you will be learning about 1915 horrific event! It’s not the kind of tourist spot that has a lot of positivity in its air, but here you will get to learn incredible facts about the culture and historical facts about the city.
In the afternoon, you will be enjoying your lunch and heading towards visiting a few other art galleries. After lunch, you will be wandering around one of the parks and visiting museums. In the evening, see the Republic Square and the singing fountain show.
There are endless possibilities to see many geographical landmarks here in Yerevan. On the third day of your trip to Armenia, you will be heading first towards the Garni and Geghard. You will get to know here that, the Temple of Garni is the only Greek-Romanian colonnaded building which is still standing and in the country and also in the post-Soviet countries.
Located at a distance of 30 km from Yerevan, this place is the best example of pre-Christian Armenia. And, close to Garni is the Geghard Monastery about 20 minutes by a car. You will get to see here an absolutely magical. Geghard has been listed in the UNESCO Worl heritage sites because of the breathtaking landscape.
Visiting Armenia and its beautiful tourist attractions continuing on the fourth day of your trip, you will be visiting the Khor Virap monastery complex. From here, you will get to enjoy the perfect panoramic view of the Mt Ararat. It’s a great location for both the history buffs and the nature lovers. You will get to see some spectacular Mountain views.
You will be moving towards Seven Lake on the fifth day of your Trip to Armenia. This big lake spans a total distance of around 1,000 sq. km. This is supposed to be one of the largest lakes in the Caucasus region. Particularly if you are visiting Armenia during Summers, Sevan Lake is the apt place.
On the sixth day of your visit to Armenia, you will be visiting Areni! You will get to see here, a wonderfully built monastery named as Noravank. Areni is one of the most wonderfully built religious buildings. We recommend visiting this place during the early morning because of the crowd here.
Visiting Armenia will be full of your interaction with a number of Monasteries. Here in the town of Tatev, you will get to see Tatev Monastery, which is located at the border of Iran. You will have to ride a cable car to reach the monastery.
Once you are finished with your exploration of this ninth-century complex, you will be returning back to your hotel and catching up on some rest. And, will be preparing for the next day trip. And, close to Tatev, there’s this beautiful Shaki Waterfall. You can explore this at the beginning of your next day trip.
Dilijan is sometimes also called as ‘Armenian Switzerland’! Located in the Dilijan National Park, this is one of the best tourist attractions in Armenia. You will be spending an entire day here, admiring the architecture of Armenia.
On the preceding tenth day of the trip to Armenia, you will be hiking in the park. There are plenty of hiking trails, you can choose as per your level and experience. You can spend an entire day exploring the monasteries, beautiful waterfalls, and Parz Lake.
This day you will be taking an off-the-beaten-path! You will be going to Lori Province, which is the perfect architectural edifice. You will be seeing the two UNESCO world heritage sites, Akhtala Monastery and Haghpat and Sanahin. You will be fascinated with this scene!
Haghpat Monastery was built in the tenth century! It will showcase the best example of medieval Armenian architecture. Haghpat and Sanahin are very close to each other and it takes just 30 minutes to travel.
Today, you will be heading back towards Yerevan! Here you will be shopping Vernissage flea market. Then relax a bit and enjoy your last few hours visiting Armenia. Catch your flight back home!
