Kigali is an attractive city and also the capital city of Rwanda. This will be your first destination on the much-awaited Rwanda tour. Your guide will meet you at the airport from where you will be escorted to the pre-booked hotel. Your stay in the hotel along with meals and other basic facilities will be included in the Rwanda Tour vacation package. So, without getting worried about the extra expenses, enjoy the first night in one of the luxurious hotels of Rwanda. Since the arrival has been made in the evening, you would have no other option than spending the rest of the day in the hotel premises. Take it as a break wherein you can relax as well as prep your nerves for the coming adventures.
Today is the day of exploration. Wake up at your own comfort, have your breakfast in the hotel, and get ready to depart for a guided tour to the Butare Town. You will drive to Butare Town with en-route lunch. Places to visit in the town are many but being a one-day tour, you will only focus on visiting the top-most attractions of which the King’s Palace and Museum are some. After soaking your eyes with the stunning palace and museum, you will continue onward to Nyungwe Forest Reserve.
The beautiful tropical forest of Nyungwe boasts a host of butterflies and reptiles along with more than 300 species of birds. This is the place where you will spot around 13 primate species during the hiking. The massive tea plantation emerging next to the forest gives it an all green look which is just wow to be captured. Also, one can not miss exploring the famous canopy walk in the forest which gives you another way to soak the scenic beauty of the forest. The walk also brings you closer to the golden monkeys who swing one branch to branch in the canopy. If you wish to stay overnight in the forest, we would recommend you to opt for Nyungwe House. They are affordable yet comfortable as per the forest atmosphere.
Wake up early in the morning to depart Cyamudongo Forest. This is the place where you are gonna make friends with lots of chimps. Your guide will take you to a habituated chimp group that have been habituated to human contact. By saying so, we do not mean that they are not wild or you are open to touch them or so on. No, definitely not. Chimps in the Cyamudongo Forest are wild but the regular visit of travelers across the world has made them habituated to human contact which allows you to approach them within a few meters - as close as the touching distance. Talking about the species of monkeys that reside in the forest. Well, there will be a lot - more than you can count at least. L’Hoests’s monkeys, silver monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, blue monkeys, golden monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys would be a few of the most spotted species in the forest. Explore them all during your visit to the forest and make sure you do capture some pictures with them.
After breakfast, you will depart for a drive along Lake Kivu shoreline to Gisenyi. It’s a picturesque resort located on the northern shores of the stunning Lake Kivu. The lake has some nice, white beaches that your eyes would love to get soaked into. Do not expect crocodiles around as they have been absent from the lake for a long time amid by volcanic action. This is the only drawback of the lake, else the lake is a beautiful place to spend a Rwanda tour in.
Wake up early in the morning as the most adventurous part of your Rwanda trip is coming your way. Today, you are going to visit the famous Volcanoes National Park - the home to gorillas and golden monkeys.

For many, it’s been a dream come true and you will be no different. So, gear up to get a close encounter with the mountain gorillas on your visit to the famous Volcanoes National Park. Talking specifically about the gorilla trekking, this would be by far the best experience you will get on your Rwanda Safari. With the help of a local bushman - who will be your guide in the park - you will follow the trails leading to the mountain gorillas. You will learn the tricks to spot the giants in the park. Sometimes, it’s the footprints and sometimes it’s the hooting of the gorillas that will help you find them in the lush green forest of Volcanoes National Park. In either case, the encounter will be adventurous in all senses. The primates will be in front of you and you will find yourself spellbound. All you can feel is the vibration their foot makes in the ground and the echo that fills the entire park with their hoots. This is one of a kind experience which only Rwanda can offer.
