DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Lusaka

Welcome to Zambia - the country of the mammals. You will be picked up from the airport and be escorted to the pre-booked private guest house. The location of the guest house would not be too far which signals less traveling and more comfort. After a drive of a few minutes, you will reach the guest house which would appear no less than a 5-star hotel. With all the facilities by your side, you would find the guest house appropriate for your stay. Enjoy the night in the guest house with a private fire pit where you can relax under the stars and listen to the sounds of nocturnal animals.

Day 2: Lusaka full-day tour

Today, you will explore the charming streets of the beautiful city of Lusaka. Wake up early in the morning and head straight to the popular elephant orphanage wherein you will get time to spend with the gigantic animals who are taken care of by the orphanage people. Since you will be on a full-day tour, utilize your time better so you can explore more in less time. After visiting the elephant orphanage, head out to the local markets and look for restaurants to satisfy your hunger cramps. After lunch, roam the streets and explore the shops. On this day of your Zambia safari tour, you will be your own guide. So, wander through the streets and return to your guest house before the dark.

Day 3-5: South Luangwa National Park

Today is the big game drive day. Yes, you heard it right. The third day of your Zambia Safari tour will mark the beginning of the adventure you are going to experience on your trip. You will visit the famous South Luangwa National Park to see lots of animals including big cats, elephants, zebras, and many more.

A short flight will take you to the land of the mammals. Your stay will be arranged in a nearby lodge or you can also opt for onsite camping for more spectacular views. You will reach the lodge in the evening which means only the food and the ambiance of the hotel can be enjoyed for the remaining day. Next morning, you will wake up with the quirky sound of the park. You won’t be needing an alarm clock to wake up early as the sounds of the birds and the animals would be enough to make you leave the bed and jump to the balcony of your room. Enjoy the breakfast, after which your guide will take you to the park to start the big game drive in South Luangwa National Park.

Encounters with the wilds are occasional in the park. It is hard to predict which animals will you encounter at what time of the day, except a few. So, it is quintessential to roam along a local bushman who knows this place very well. With the help of the guide and the local bushman, you will be able to know the many of the spots including the waterholes that are frequently visited by the animals.

The afternoon game drive will be stopped for sundowners in the bush after which you will continue the drive till late at night. You will spend the night in the stars and in front of a campfire which collectively contributes to a marvelous camping experience. Do not expect silence in the park as the hippos in the river won’t let that happen. It would be a noisy night in the camp so be prepared for that.

Day 6-7: Luambe National Park

Luambe National Park is a small park sandwiched between the North and South Luangwa National Park. Known mainly for the water hippos, the park becomes an ideal place for travelers who are on a Zambia safari tour.

You will arrive in the late afternoon which might also delay your lunch timings in the lodge. If you can, do arrive with a packed lunch to save some hours for game driving. The good part about today’s tour is that you can start the tour as soon as you reach the lodge. Get done with your lunch and head directly to the park for a late afternoon game drive. Apart from the hippos, you will find the park carrying some of the spectacular species of birds, hyenas, buffalos, and elephants. Spend two days in the park to explore it to the fullest.

Day 8: North Luangwa National Park

Today will be the most adventurous day of your Zambia Safari Tour. You will drive from Luambe to North Luangwa National Park which would be full of stunning scenery. Hours before reaching your destination, you will be able to soak your eyes with the incredible views of rural Zambia.

You will cross a pontoon over the Luangwa River into the North Park in the mid-afternoon after which you will reach your first stop the stunning Buffalo Camp located on the Mwaleshi River. The camp is quite simple but has lots of things to admire at of which the hot water for shower, cold drinks, and plenty of wildlife excitement are some.

When in the park, you might feel that the park has limited game tracks which is actually true. This is the only drawback you will notice in the park which however is not the most dominating also. You can ignore it pretty easily by opting for scenic walking safaris in this true wilderness. Watch buffalos muddling their horns, lions living in pride in the park, and many other wild animals who add value to the park.

Day 9: Departure

All good things never stay for long and so will be this memorable trip. Your flight to Lusaka and then to your home town will mark the end of this long 9-day Zambia Safari Tour. Today you will be saying Cheerios to the scenic beauty of this place. With lots of special memories in your heart, you will transfer to the airport for a happy return. Do not miss to enjoy your farewell breakfast in the hotel before the exit formalities. You will love the sweet gesture shown by the hotel staff.
