5 Websites That Plan Mystery Getaways

5 Websites That Plan Mystery Getaways

Do you need a vacation, but not the headache of planning one? Are you longing to get away, but don’t have the time to research where to go? That’s where mystery vacations come in. By filling out a form and setting a budget you can let go of the hassle of making all the arrangements yourself. Here are five companies that will plan your vacation for you, but it is going to be a surprise!

1. Magical Mystery Tours

Since 2009 Magical Mystery Tours has been planning mystery vacations for people. They handle everything, including sifting through all consumer reviews.

How it works

After you fill out a form giving your desired travel dates, budget and setting your comfort parameters, Magical Mystery Tours will do the research to find the perfect vacation for you. A week before your departure you’ll be notified of the weather where you’ll be going, so you can plan your attire ahead of time and right before your departure you’ll receive a package with all the information you’ll need for your new adventure.

How much?

Pricing starts at $1500 for a 2-person weekend getaway or $1100 for one person. It will be an extra $150 for each additional night and $300 for each additional person.

Transportation to and from your destination, lodging, taxes, and research fee ($300)

2. Seniortours Mystery Vacation

Seniortours.com offers a “deluxe 4-day mystery vacation” package to an unknown destination. You’ll receive a professionally guided tour and minimum 3-star accommodations. Additional perk: it comes with a $25 credit towards a vacation of 5 days, or more.

3. Pack Up + Go

This startup company offers mystery vacations as well, although maybe their research is a bit more in-depth. The vacations they choose for you are based entirely on your budget and interests, and of course, you will have no idea where you are being sent.

How it works

First, you will select your preferred type of transportation and budget. After that, you have to fill out a survey, where you will give information about what types of vacations you’ve taken before and what you like to do in your spare time. You will also be asked what your schedule flexibility is like and whether or not you’ll be bringing kids. Make sure you pick only what you would absolutely most like to do because you are paying for this research and it is non-refundable. Then, like Magical Mystery Tours, you will be given the weather report and a package that you aren’t to open until you get to the airport. Included, though, are also suggestions from locals on the best places to eat, shop and get your drink on.

How much?

Road trips will run you between $350 and $2000, and if you want to take a bus, train or plane, that will run you between $450 and $2000.

What is included?

Airfare and accommodations. Nothing more and nothing less.

4. Get Going

Imagine a website that will have the final decision on where you go on vacation, but in return, you get a major flight discount. That’s what Getgoing.com, a travel management/flight-booking company, does for you.

How it works

Enter your departure airport, where you want to go or the type of vacation you want, along with your travel dates and the number of people with whom you’ll be traveling. GetGoing will show you possible destinations, how much and what your savings would be. You get to select two and once you enter your details and credit card info, they will make the choice for you. Flights are non-refundable.

How much?

It varies, but you could save up to a few hundred bucks on airfare.

What is included?

Airfare, only.
