Top 4 Theme Parks to Explore in Dubai

Dubai is one of the top tourist destinations in the world to boast of incredible sights and modern-day marvels. Be it the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, a palm-shaped man-made island, Palm Jumeirah, or indoor ski slopes - Dubai has it all. So, now what? Well, the city has set course to overtake Orlando as the best tourist destination for theme parks. Since 2016, Dubai has five functional, new fun zones comprising dinosaurs, shark lagoons, and even superheroes. Rather, Dubai has an entire district full of amusement parks, yes the Dubai Parks and Resorts (DPR) in Jebel Ali. without further ado, let us take a look at the top four theme parks that you must explore in Dubai.

IMG Worlds of Adventure

Here’s to the world’s largest indoor theme park, the IMG Worlds of Adventure! Seriously, no pressure guys. Just like an adventure-filled comic strip, this park is a buzzing realm of superheroes, ghouls, and dinosaurs. The theme park is the brainchild of two Emirati businessmen - Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari, hence the name, IMG. That said, the park has four zones complete with an enthralling ensemble of rides and attractions. Here, you can also become a part of a Superhero showdown between Marvel’s Thor and Loki, or aid Spider-Man in saving New York as you spiral down a roller coaster. Then, there’s the unique, dino-centric Lost Valley, where you have several life-size, animatronic specimens of prehistoric lizards. The most popular attraction in IMG, however, is the ‘Haunted Hotel’, where live zombies and ghosts scare even the iron-hearts.

Motiongate Dubai

Popularly known as ‘Hollywood in the Desert’,  the Motiongate offers more than 24 rides and live shows that get inspiration from classic and latest blockbuster motion pictures. There are separate zones, each bearing the name of a famous movie studio. First up, there is the Columbia Pictures area, where you can board the ‘Green Hornet’ roller coaster, become a ghostbuster, and take a tour of the spooky Hotel Transylvania. At the heart of this theme park, you have the indoor DreamWorks zone. In here, you have a chance to spend time with some of the studio’s most beloved animated characters such as Po from Kung Fu Panda, Shrek and Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. Then there’s the sensational ‘Madagascar: Hot Pursuit’-inspired roller coaster and the scary ‘Capitol Bullet Train’, which albeit, is in the Lionsgate zone. In here, you have the entire Hunger Games franchise-inspired rides and the adorable Smurfs Village.

Legoland Dubai

The latest entry in DPR’s Legoland empire, this theme park features 40 incredible rides and attractions. These attractions are spread across six different theme zones, namely, Lego City, Factory, Imagination, Adventure, Kingdoms, and Miniland. If you are an adrenaline-junkie, you may want to skip this one though, because here you don’t have any white-knuckle rides. That said, you can always enjoy the charming ‘Dragon’ ride that traverses through a medieval castle and the ‘Submarine Adventure’ that lets you get up close to sharks and coral. In addition, you can take part in several interactive activities in the Lego City such as earning a driver license, piloting a plane to put out a jungle fire. On the other hand, grown-ups can explore the Miniland, where you have replicas of iconic local landmarks including the Burj Khalifa and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, albeit made from more than 20 million Lego pieces.

Bollywood Parks

You may be surprised to see a full-fledged, and perhaps the only theme park in the world that celebrates Bollywood, here in Dubai. That said, you will absolutely love exploring attractions based on some of the classics of Indian cinema including Mughal-E-Azam, Sholay, or Dabangg. In this area of the DPR, you can find a plethora of action-packed motion rides, in both 3D and 4D. For example, you have the ‘Don: The Chase’, in which you get to race around Dubai and capture a crafty mafia boss. Then there is the ‘Sholay: The Hunt for Gabbar Singh’, in which you have to aim a laser gun at badass villains and take them down. Overall, if you are Bollywood fan and cherish live entertainment such as explosive stunt shows, extravagant song, and dance performances, and foot-tapping music extravaganza, this park is perfect for you.
