Get ready for The “We Won’t Forget Blues Review” at the Gaslamp Bar and Restaurant in Long Beach, California on Sunday, June 12, 2016. Presented by The Orange County Blues Society, this special event is set to kick off at 4 p.m. The We Won’t Forget Blues Review charity benefit Pets For Vets will include auctions, raffles, and several live music acts.
About Pets for Vets
Pets For Vets is a non-profit organization that focuses on helping to heal the emotional wounds of U.S. military veterans by matching them up with a shelter dog specifically chosen for their individual personalities. Professional trainers work to rehabilitate the dogs, teach them good manners and work them into each veteran's particular lifestyle. In some cases, dogs are even desensitized to crutches or wheelchairs and are even trained to acknowledge such things as panic and anxiety disorder behaviors. The bond formed between a man and a dog is said to be enough to ease the pain of the members of our armed forces when they return home. Pets For Vets give shelter dogs a second chance at life while also providing veterans with a second chance at health and happiness. Pets For Vets is a warm, fuzzy way to help U.S. Military Veterans.
Rick Snyder, Social Media Manager for the Orange County Blues Society, concluded: “The We Won't Forget Blues Review is a gathering of Blues Artists doing what they love to do, play the blues. This event, hosted by the Orange County Blues Society at the Gaslamp an all-ages concert venue located on the border of Orange and LA County, is to aid and benefit Pets For Vets, an organization that rescues dogs, trains them to be service dogs and provides them free of charge to veterans. Come on down and enjoy some killer Blues, great booze, good food and help us to support this worthwhile cause.”
At press time the musical lineup will feature such blues acts as a singer-songwriter and guitarist Bernie Pearl, the Inland Empire’s own Seville Street Blues and The Orange County Blues Society’s “founding” act Papa J & Richard. Also taking to the stage at this worthy cause will be the talented teen trio known as The Chase Walker Band, rock and blues artist Johnny Oskam and songstress Shari Puorto of the Shari Puorto Band who in a brief-e interview said: “We love to support our local community whenever we can. Especially when it brings our Vets and lost pets together. I can't think of a more wonderful event to perform at." Last but certainly not least, Los Angeles’ New Blues Revolution will also be performing. The band has performed, headlined and even founded several events such as this throughout California.
