Havana airport is the biggest international airport in Cuba. Havana, which is also the capital and one of the most gorgeous cities in Cuba, is a good starting point for your tour. Depending on the time at which you land in the city of Havana, you can use your first day to explore Havana Vieja and the city center.
Day 2: Another Day in Havana
Havana is a gorgeous city and no amount of time ever seems enough to see it entirely. However, it is possible for you to see the main highlights of the city. One of the best ways to kick-start your Havana journey is to do a vintage car tour of the city. While being very touristy, these tours will give you the opportunity to witness all the points of interest of the beautiful city in just over an hour, and also provides you with a better idea of what you would like to go back to and see in more detail. Moreover, how can you resist those classy vintage cars? The vintage car tours usually take you to Plaza de la Revolucion, which is otherwise a little far and complicated to reach.
Day 3: Exploring Habana Vieja
Having done a vintage car tour, all that is left now is to explore Habana Vieja. The architecture in this part of Havana is purely amazing and just strolling around the small side streets is a great experience. You can also go inside the cathedral of Havana if you wish. Habana Vieja is quite nearby to the sea. In case, you don't feel tired of walking yet, going for a walk along the Malecòn, Havana’s seaside walk is highly recommended.
Day 4: Heading to Viñales
Depending on the time you arrive in Viñales, you can spend the rest of your day exploring the streets and town center of Viñales.
Viñales is most popular for its tobacco fields located in the valley of Viñales, which is also a National Park. The farmers here work all year round to generate the tobacco that ultimately gets used in the famous Cuban cigars. You have the option to visit the valley of Viñales either on a horse riding or a walking tour. The horse riding one is highly recommended, as you will be able to see more of the valley. Moreover, it is more fun and will make you feel like a local!
During the tour, your guide will take you to explore the tobacco plantations, where the local farmers will narrate the process for growing tobacco and rolling cigars. This is going to be a very interesting experience and you’ll also get the chance to try out a free cigar. After your tobacco plantations visit, continue to see some of the other plantations they grow in the valley, including coffee.
Day 5: More Time in The Valley of Viñales
For your next day in Viñales, you have many options. You can plan to go to the beach since the beaches on this coast of Cuba are stunningly beautiful and also relatively less touristy as compared to the resort-heavy Varadero.
