Courchevel - The Most Luxurious Ski Resort in France

Courchevel - The Most Luxurious Ski Resort in France

Arguably the most luxurious ski resort in France, Courchevel is a sight to behold. Courchevel is a part of Les Trois Vallées (probably the largest linked ski area in the world.) Moreover, Courchevel comprises the towns of Courchevel 1650 (Moriond), Courchevel 1550, Courchevel 1300 (Le Praz), and Courchevel 1850. These names are of course, because of their altitudes in meters. Each year, as the Alpine ski season arrives, this mesmerizing ski destination attracts a number of A-listers including the Parisian social elite, oligarchs, and, rock royalty. Without further ado, here are some insights into this exciting French ski vista. Take a look.

Background

Collectively, these towns are situated in the Saint-Bon-Tarentaise commune. Likewise, the locals still refer to each town by their respective numbers, regardless of the fact that each has its own name. However as part of Les Trois Vallées, and along with Val Thorens and Meribel, they form the world’s largest collective ski resort. The region also has the highest density of luxury hotels in France (outside Paris).

Top Choices for Luxury Accommodations

Hotel Barrière Les Neiges

In 2016, the hotel underwent a complete makeover. Subsequently, ski enthusiasts and visitors are greeted with the subtle accents of silks and marble, and open fires. Together, these and many more delightful details come together to render an authentic, stylish, and sumptuous, mountain retreat environment. That said, visitors also have a direct access to the ski slopes, pools, spas, and private cinema rooms, so that they can unwind without any hassles. Among the popular dining choices available here, the Parisian brasserie of Fouquet on Les Neiges and Avenue des Champs-Élysées is the first choice for many.

Chalet Edelweiss

Imagine having an entire chalet at your disposal, and that too, at one of the most mesmerizing ski destinations? Sounds pretty awesome now, isn’t it? Not only, you can have more privacy, but can also demand almost anything your heart desires. Chalet Edelweiss lets you experience exactly that - a lavish and sprawling accommodation with all the modern-day amenities. The expansive chalet spans over 3,000 square meters and features seven floors of decadent 8-bedroom suites. That said, there are other plush amenities on offer here, such as indoor pools, library, steam rooms with hammam facility, and even a private nightclub. It is perfectly located, right on the Bellecote piste and only a few minutes’ walks away from Courchevel 1850.

Other Attractions

While skiing takes the center stage, here at Courchevel, there are other popular attractions too. There’s the new Ariondaz gondola at Courchevel 1650 (Moriond), which has double the capacity of the earlier lifts and reduces 3 minutes from the total time it earlier took to reach the top. Likewise, the new spa at Hotel Le Melezin is an amazing architectural feat (an entirely new floor was dug to design it, over the summer). Therefore, it is no wonder that Courchevel attracts many prominent celebrities from around the world including Prince William and Kate Middleton, Christina Aguilera, the Beckhams, Geri Halliwell, Lionel Richie, Peter Andre, the Saudi royal family, Robbie Williams, George Clooney, Roman Abramovich, Giorgio Armani, and the King of Morocco.
