FESTIVAL OF SAIL
If you find yourself in the area (or just want a nice road trip), head on down to the Port of San Diego for the Festival of Sail, which will be held over the whole weekend. You can even be in the parade if you want!
The Festival of Sails is the largest tall ship festival on the west coast. It is hosted by the Maritime Museum of San Diego, who transforms the North Embarcadero into something of a nautical theme park!

- Boarding Check-in: 10:45
- Parade starts 1:30pm between buoy 7 & 8
- Returns: 3:30pm
Tickets are $60.00 each for adults and $48.00 for each child.
If you live in Los Angeles and you like food, then you’ve probably heard of The Taste, a food-tasting festival that takes place on the Paramount Studios back lot on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Foodies, make your way there this weekend for some of the best food and wine the City of Angels has to offer.
On Friday’s opening night there will be many tastings of food and drink from dozens of restaurants from around the city. Additionally, “Field to Fork” will be hosted by LA Times food editor Amy Scattergood and Michael Cimarusti, ower of Connie & Ted’s. During “Field to Fork” the two will cook and talk about fresh locally sourced food. Joining the discussion will be a selected panel of chefs.
On Saturday night, LA Times restaurant critic Jonathan Gold will host “Dinner With a Twist,” a live food and cocktail demo with some of the city’s most talented chefs.
The weekend ends on Sunday with a block party and the “Flavors of LA” cooking event.
Your ticket provides you with full access to all the food and drink you can consume.

The LA county fair is not just for Labor Day weekend. It runs from September 2-25, so if you miss it this weekend, you’ll have plenty of chances to check it out.
The LACF debuted in 1922 with 100,000 folks in attendance and the Pomona Fairgrounds have seen millions since. It seems like there is an unlimited amount of stuff to do, from concerts (This year boasts Blondie, Chicago, WAR and many more!) to attractions (carnival rides, games, Jurassic Planet and many others) as well as food (lots of fried foods and beer, as well as a wine tasting class) and shopping!
There’s even a whole lot for the kids to do, from Our Body – The Universe Within exhibit to art classes at the Flower and Garden Pavilion.
