The Occasional Cocktail: The 9 Martini at The Beetle House, New York City

Businessmen and entrepreneurs Brian Link and Zach Neil, who opened a Will Ferrell themed bar in New York City in 2015, are back at it with the recent East Village opening of a Tim Burton themed restaurant and bar called Beetle House. Directing auteur Tim Burton is in no way affiliated or connected with the bar. Beetle House effectively functions as a love letter and homage to the cinematic works of Tim Burton, celebrating films like, “Beetlejuice,” “Sweeney Todd,” and, “Corpse Bride,” among others.

Feature of the Beetle House

Beetle house seats 43 and is macabrely decorated with items, posters, and furnishings modeled after the creativity of Tim Burton. The bartenders, staff and even the doorman will all be dressed like characters from all of your favorite Tim Burton films. Don’t be surprised to find the doorman at Beetle House dressed from head-to-toe as Beetlejuice. Every drink and meal option is inspired or named after films and characters created by Burton. A sample look at some of the available meals at Beetle House includes: The Sweeny Beef is a $30 meal featuring an 8-ounce steak that is cooked with mushrooms, onions and a reduced red wine glaze. The $14 Veggie Corpse burger is a breaded vegetable patty dressed in sautéed onions, sautéed mushrooms, a red wine and balsamic vinegar reduction, avocado, roasted peppers and lettuce on a toasted bun.

The Edward Burger Hands

The $18 Edward Burger Hands is a half-pound all-beef hamburger dressed in pepper jack cheese, smoked bacon, avocado, roasted peppers, one fried egg, tomato, lettuce, and sriracha cream. The toasted bun is smeared with honey butter and garlic as well. Beetle House’s official website even assures all patrons who may be concerned with protein sourcing with a firmly entrenched tongue-in-cheek message stating that “all meat sourced locally from 100% innocent humans captured wild on the street of NYC.” Beetle House’s aspirational and operational goals are poised to leave a mark on the New York City bar scene via their eclectic collection of Tim Burton inspired cocktails. All cocktails are priced between $12 and $14 and include:
