Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arriving Rwanda by Passing Kigali to Volcano National Park

Welcome to the Rwandan capital of Kigali, a city that appears to be a lush village in the hills than a capital city. Let a guide introduce you to the Volcanoes National Park which is one of the two accessible places in East Africa. If you want to trek wild mountain gorillas, the volcanoes national park is the place you must visit. On your way to Randa, wind through The Land of a Thousand Hills while circumferencing along the forested slopes until the canopy closes in and you are deep into the mystique of the forest. Lost in the foothills of the Virungas Mountains, you will find your lodge where you will experience a luxurious stay for the coming few days. On the very first day of your tour, you may get a feeling that this is one of the best gorilla trekking tours you could ever get.

Day 2-3: Enjoy Gorilla Trekking in the Lush Rwandan Forests

Wake up in the early morning because today is the day when you will spot your closest primates face to face. You will follow a marked trail along with your guide and then veer off onto tracks made by forest elephants. With every step, the rainforest will seem to get darker and denser as the trees wrap themselves around the trail and the guides slice your path using their machetes. Keep looking onto the branched and in no time you will spot a ball of black, but then you must clamber for another five minutes before the troop comes into full view. It can be challenging, but trekking through the thick virgin forest is a very authentic part of the experience, helping you appreciate just how remote you have to go when visiting the world's last mountain gorillas. As you approach the gorillas, you will feel the goosebumps rise as two blackback males will cause the ground to vibrate as they pound through the small forest clearing. Being into the home of gorillas is one of a kind feelings which only Rwanda can offer.

Day 4: Witnessing the Great Wildebeest Migration and Reserve Legends in Masaai Mara

Do you know what is the best time to visit Rwanda? Well, it is from July to October. The reason behind this is the great wildebeest migration that happens during these months. Every July and August, the great wildebeest migration crosses the Mara River and then the herds will spread out across the Masai Mara until September or October (note that for travel from January to June, you will need to safari in Tanzania's Serengeti to see the great wildebeest migration). So, if you want to store this epic scene into your eyes forever and ever, plan a Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda from August to October. Enjoy game drives along the Mara River, relax in your lodge, and try to feel the freshness and the tranquility in the sounds of countless birds. Heaven!

Day 5: Mara North Conservancy – Hot Air Balloon Above the Mara and a Walking Safari

Flying over the incredible land of Masai Mara becomes more exciting when it is done via a hot air balloon. During your entire journey, you will be flying a lot for shorter distances within Rwanda but, spotting the African wildlife and the landscape while standing high on a hot air balloon is something different. Try this in Mara North Conservancy which offers a hot air balloon tour to all the travelers. Not only this, you get a chance to explore the entire Mara land on a walking safari.
