Florence is the capital of the Tuscany region of Italy. The city is well known as the birthplace of Italian Renaissance, as well as the Athens of the Middle Ages. It is also the most important city in Europe for 250 years, due to its political, economics, and cultural aspects. Florence is also the birthplace of Italian Opera, as well as well known figures such as Leonardo da Vinci, Miccolo Machiavelli, Michelangelo, and Florence Nightingale. Their tourism department is by far the most important in Florence's economy for the money that is being generated is from international visitors and students studying in the city.

The population of Florence is around 365,000 (city) and around 1.5 million (metropolitan), making it Tuscany's most populous city with 90% of the city's population is Italian. The Chinese has the second part of Florence's population, with 60,000 people living in the city. The rest came from other European countries mostly from Albania and Romania.

The climate in Florence has hot, humid summers from June to August, with little rainfall and cool, damp winters. The average January temperature is 42 degrees F (5.5 degrees C) and the average July temperature is 95 degrees F (35 degrees C). The average annual rainfall is 36 inches (91.4 cm).

Florence is known for its historical landmarks. Dubbed as the 'Art Capital of Italy,' this city is rich of artistic and cultural references with its numerous museums and art galleries. It is also famous of its squares that divide Florence into different sections. One of the most famous squares is the Piazza del Duomo located in the heart of Florence's historical center and one of the most visited place in Europe and in the world. The Florence Cathedral, Giotto's Campanile, Florence Baptistery, and Loggia del Bigallo are some of the attractions you can find at this square.

The Ufiizi Gallery is one of the oldest fine art museums. The collection of Renaissance paintings and sculptures are found at this museum. Built by Giorgio Vasari in 1560 and finished in 1581, some of the famous paintings are displayed at this museum such as Leonardo da Vinci's The Annunciation, Michelangelo's The Donit Tondo, and Raphael's Madonna of the Goldfinch.

The Accademia museum is also another famous museum located in Florence, It has two branches: The Accademia di Belle Arti (fine arts) and Accademia delle Arti del Disegno (drawing). These two branches was founded in 1563 by Cosimo I de' Medici under Girogio Vasari's influence. Michaelangelo's world famous sculpture, David, is located at the Gallery at the Accademia di Belle Arti since 1873.
